The Madín dam, which was built between 1972 and 1974 as a storage vessel to control floods of the Tlalnepantla River and became one of the main receptacles for the supply of drinking water for municipalities such as Atizapán and Naucalpan, is today contaminated. so the fish in the area are dying and it is a risk for the local population.

All this has been caused, according to ecologists and researchers, due to the amount of residual discharges without any type of treatment that will be given to the dam, and in addition to the invasion of the surrounding lands that has caused the level to decrease.
