REAL DE CATORCE
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Award-winning contributor Postandfly created this beautiful aerial video of the "ghost town" of Real de Catorce, once one of the great mining towns of Central Mexico. Situated in the state of San Luis Potosi, it's roughly in the middle of the great triangle formed by Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara. The town was founded as a result of a large nearby silver discovery in the late 18th century, and at its height, it was one of the biggest sources for the highly silver-dependent Spanish Empire.

Real de Catorce is a very popular Ghost Town in Mexico. This 'ghost-town' in the high and dry expanses of northern San Luis Potosí state was once a thriving silver mining settlement. Real de Catorce has long been a pilgrimage site for both local Catholics and Huichol shamanists, and is now being discovered by international tourists drawn by the desert ambience and reputed spiritual energy.
