I've been doing a lot of frame design and prototyping over the last year or so, and I've had the chance to learn a ton and be involved in a lot of really awesome projects. I'm working on one now that is probably one of the coolest so far. Some really unique stuff going into this one, and I really am excited to see where it goes. This was primarily a result of a night if insomnia over the weekend. The design worked itself out in my head and I finally got up super early, spit it into CAD, set up the toolpathing and had the first prototype CNC'd, assembled, and in my hand by 9 AM. Some dry fitting for components and some quick CAD revisions and I had a second prototype out by mid-afternoon! Desktop manufacturing is one of the coolest things ever! Today I had the chance to get the build finished and meet a buddy at the local playground to give it a workout. It's been almost two months since I last flew one of my 5" quads, and that playground is a workout, so not much to see. Got three packs in and I'm impressed! Design took a solid hit on a metal rail and walked away. It handles on rails too, one of the unique parts of the design has a pretty big impact on tracking in forward flight, and it's working amazingly. Needed to tweak the front to back CG balance a tad, so I'll be making one more prototype cut. Design changes have already been made, just need to get it cut. Anyway, here's what's mostly a chain if left hand turns and right hand flips trying to remember how to fly! It was great seeing some sun finally and meeting up with a friend. Don't worry, we stayed 6 feet apart and I washed my hands thoroughly as soon as I got home! The playground was surprisingly crowded when we first got there interestingly enough. Stay safe and healthy everyone!
