Rockfleet Castle and Newport, Mayo, Ireland. Ancestral hometown of Princess Grace of Monaco,
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Here's a beautiful aerial view of a town and castle tower in County Mayo in western Ireland. The town is Newport, and it's situated on a large inlet called Clew Bay. It's a planned town which dates to the early 18th century. Rockfleet Castle is the most well-known attraction near the town. Built in the 16th century, it was the home and likely the final resting place of Grace O'Malley (Gráinne Mhaol), an Irish clan leader known for standing up to Queen Elizabeth in a 1593 meeting with the monarch.

Footage of Newport and Rockfleet Castle, County Mayo, Ireland. Newport is situated on Ireland's west coast along the Wild Atlantic Way route. It was also the ancestral home of the late actress Grace Kelly, who later became Princess Grace of Monaco. She visited her Grandfather's homestead in Newprot in 1961, and later purchased the property. Rockfleet Castle is a 16th century building at the mouth of an inlet in Clew Bay. It was once the home of Grace O;Malley, known as the Pirate Queen. She had command of three Galleys and 200 men who gave merchant ships a hard time, going to and from Galway. She is believed to have died in the castle also. Clew Bay has many Islands as seen in the video. Enjoy,
