Roman Miracle of the Snow

Every year a part of Rome turns white, to recall the miracle of snow. But what are we talking about? It is said that in the year 358 AD on the night between 4 and 5 August, the Virgin Mary appeared in a dream to a couple of Roman nobles and to the pontiff Pope Liberius, indicating the place where the church would be built that the noble married couple would have built. built as a promise to the Virgin Mary. The following morning they went to the Esquiline Hill which, despite it being the height of hot summer, was found covered in snow. The pontiff traced the perimeter of the new church following the surface of the snow-covered ground and built the sacred temple which takes the name of Santa Maria della Neve, which later became the current basilica of S. Maria Maggiore. So every year, snow falls on Rome.
