Rome FPV: Avata 2 Cinematic Year Recap

Over the last year, I’ve been chasing the light across Rome’s most beautiful monuments. This video is a journey through the Eternal City, compiling my best FPV lines flown over the past seasons.

From the iconic Spanish Steps to the majesty of the Pantheon, flying FPV through Rome has been an incredible experience.

Technical & Workflow

Gear: Flown on the DJI Avata 2.

I used the 10-bit D-Log M profile to maximize dynamic range.

This proved essential for these high-contrast urban environments, providing flexible files that held up perfectly during grading and allowing me to retain rich details in both the deep shadows of ancient alleys and the bright highlights of the marble monuments.

Post-Production:

Stabilization: Gyroflow (Essential for smoothing out the footage). Editor: Final Cut Pro. Color & VFX: I used FCP for heavy color grading to really push the 10-bit data. I also utilized dynamic masking techniques for seamless scene transitions.

Sound:

Soundtrack courtesy of Artlist.io. Manual SFX/Ambience added from the Final Cut Pro library to bring the city to life.

Locations: Piazza di Spagna, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, Pantheon, Castel Sant'Angelo, Campidoglio, Il Vittoriano.

Enjoy the flight!
