Ruins of Wilkahuaín - Huaraz - Peru - Just Drone ¡¡

Willkahuain or Huillcahuayín (other variants: Wilcahuaín, Willkawaín) is an archaeological site formed by the remains of an architectural complex of Ancient Peru, from the pre-Inca period, where a three-story building called the "Temple of Huilcahuaín" stands out. It is located in the Callejón de Huaylas, about 7 km northeast of the city of Huaraz, in the district of Independencia, province of Huaraz, department of Ancash, and at 3 400 meters above sea level. It was one of the administrative centers of the Huari culture (or Wari), of the period of the Middle Horizon, although it seems that its origin is older, as one of the centers of the Recuay culture, of the Early Intermediate. At 800 meters from Huilcahuaín is the Archaeological Complex of Ichic Willkahuaín that is conformed by a set of smaller scale architectural structures (called chullpas). The whole complex is called the Archaeological Complex of Willcahuaín and Ichic Willcahuaín.
