SAXON SWITZERLAND - ELBE SANDSTONE MOUNTAINS ☞ [4K]

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Michael Haubold brings us this excellent aerial video of the Elbe Sandstone Mountains in the northeast German state of Saxony.  The area is sometimes referred to Saxon Switzerland or Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland (the latter case in reference to the fact that it also covers an adjacent portion of the Czech Republic), although it's well to the north of the actual Switzerland.  The video includes shots of one of the mountains' most prominent man-made structures: the great hilltop fortress of Königstein.

Saxon Switzerland is a hilly climbing area and national park in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, located around the Elbe valley south-east of Dresden in Saxony, Germany. Together with Bohemian Switzerland in the Czech Republic, the region is known as Saxon-Bohemian Switzerland. Saxon Switzerland alone has some 1,000 climbing peaks, as well as several hollows. The area is popular with local and international climbers. The administrative district for the area is Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge. The fortress of Königstein is a well-known landmark.
