The legend is that in a former town called Michiztlan, lived a king who had a beautiful daughter. She fell in love with a young man from the enemy town. When the king realized this, he was enraged and sent his soldiers to tie the young men to a pole. Seeing so close but at the same time far away, the lovers cried nonstop for days, until they formed the lagoon.
