Sardinia Nuraghe Seruci
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
One of the fascinating things about the Italian island of Sardinia is just how long this place has been inhabited by semi-civilized humans. In this drone video by Sergio Madau, you'll get a bird's eye view of one of these sites: Nuraghe Seruci. Located in the commune of Gonnesa on its southwestern shore, it consists of the remains of a tower and village built by the Nuragic Civilization, a bronze-age culture which existed here from around 1800 BC (ie, centuries before the founding of Rome) to the 3rd century BC.

The Seruci nuragic complex is an important archaeological site that extends over six hectares, located in the territory of the municipality of Gonnesa, in the Iglesiente area. . . The nuraghe is polylobed, that is, consisting of a central tower surrounded by five towers, some of which are in good condition. The towers have their own collapsed summits; originally the tops of the towers had to be crowned with stone battlements, which after the collapses were recovered at the base of the structures during the last archaeological excavations to which the structure was subjected. From the Seruci nuraghe it is possible to observe the entire surrounding area, being positioned in a high-altitude place that was to be of strategic importance. Info.
