Senhora do Salto is a place of pilgrimage, wrapped in legends and religious worship. This is also where the Sousa River passes, which, conditioned by the local geology, is forced to cross the quartzite rocks, forming narrow and deep valleys with vertical walls that can reach 100m. This cannon that has formed, of imposing aspect, spectacular and at the same time fearful, is also known as "Mouth of the Inferno". Here, scarps serve as habitat for some birds of prey, such as the peregrine falcon, as well as for the nesting of rock swallows. This place is inserted in an area classified and included in the Network Natura 2000 - Sitio de Valongo, being considered Natural Heritage - Special Area of Conservation.
