Smiths Lake being opened to the sea

Raising water levels in the lake cause road flooding, threaten business premises and recreational areas go under. Occasionally the local council has to breach the small dividing sandbar to the ocean to let it out. Quite a spectacle for the locals, anglers, surfers etc.
