After a 90 minute walk through the rainforest we reached our destination, the Moonlight Crag Lookout in the Lamington National Park. Upon arrival, we were held up by low cloud for an hour before being able to take in the spectacular views & fly our drones, but the wait was definitely worth it. Morans Falls, Balancing Rock, Moonlight Crag is a 7.9 kilometer loop trail located near O'Reilly Rainforest Retreat (resort), Queensland, Australia that features a waterfall and is rated as moderate. The trail is primarily used for hiking and nature trips. Length 4.9 miles, Elevation gain 1,555 ft. The Moonlight Crag lookout deck also offers a unique dining experience for conferences, weddings and special events, and is one of the only venues of its type in Australia. The Lamington National Park of 20,600 hectares (51,000 acres) is a national park, lying on the Lamington Plateau of the McPherson Range on the Queensland/New South Wales border in Australia. The park is 85 kilometres (53 mi) southwest of Southport on the Gold Coast and 110 kilometres (68 mi) south of the city of Brisbane. As one of Queensland & Australia's best national parks, Lamington National Park is part of the Shield Volcano Group of the "World Heritage Site Gondwana Rainforests" of Australia inscribed in 1986 and added to the Australian National Heritage List in 2007. Rugged mountain scenery, waterfalls, caves, ancient rainforest, wildflower heaths, tall open forests, creeks, varied wildlife and some of the best bushwalking in Queensland are protected in Lamington National Park. The journey to O’Reilly’s Rainforest Retreat is almost as memorable as the destination. Your journey will take you through the village of Canungra and as you pass through the Canungra Valley, stop in to sample some O’Reilly’s wine and fuel up for your morning or afternoon of hiking with a picnic at Canungra Valley Vineyards. As you begin your drive up the to the Lamington Plateau on the slow winding mountain road, enjoy the vistas of the mountains in the West, and you’ll understand why it is called “The Scenic Rim”. The last part of the drive to O'Reilly's gives you the sense you are in the movie "Jurassic Park" with its pristine & ancient rainforest environment. The only thing missing is the dinosaurs. Footage shot using Autel Evo 2 Pro drone, 6k @ 30fps, log & IPhone 13, edited using Filmora X. Videographers are Edwin Mens & Ross Langdon.
