Spis Castle in the eastern portion of Slovakia is one of the largest and best known castle ruins in all of Europe. Built in the 13th century and then destroyed by a fire in the late 18th century, the castle is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage cultural site. It's been used as the shooting location for numerou movies, including Dragonheart and the Last Legion.
