Got to fly the south jetty, were the Columbia meet the pacific ocean. North Jetty and South Jetty and Jetty A, with a combined length of 9.7 miles, help reduce the need for dredging along the 43-foot deep Columbia River navigation channel. Without the jetties, waves and wind would push sand into the shipping lanes, quickly making them impassible to large ship's, so the army core of engineers build the jetty's by building a train track that ran the rock all the way out to the end about 2 3/4 mile's, you can still see the log piling's.
