A splendid spot if you just wanna sit and chill for a while , and look out over the Irish Sea or even go for a swim. Situated at the southern end of Wicklow town, perched on a precipice overlooking the Irish Sea, a few ruins remain of the outer walls where once a castle stood. Built around the time of Strongbow and the Anglo - Norman invasion of Ireland in the 12th Century. It is said that many a bloody battle was fought here as the local clans laid siege to the castle, finally razing it in 1580. To the side of the Black Castle is Travelahawk Beach where St. Patrick landed when he returned to Ireland. It's also a popular spot if you fancy a dip in the sea.
