And for more amazing aerial views, check out AirVūz.com VIDEO TRANSCRIPT: Ryan Hoag: Welcome to The Drone Dish. Today we have one of Minnesota's own, Tyler Mason. A man that tugs on my heartstrings being an avid sports fan. Tyler, welcome. Tyler Mason: How's it going Ryan? Thanks for having me. Ryan Hoag: Hey, happy to have you. You know, you've been so instrumental in promoting the AirVūz community. You've nearly uploaded 50 videos, where's that inspiration come from? Tyler Mason: It's just something I love to do. As soon as I got [00:00:30] my drone, August of last year, every time I fly it, it's just a lot of fun. I get inspired to try to find new places to fly, and I try to promote the drone community, of course the AirVūz community, to as many people as possible. Just to kind of get the word out there about all the good things that drones are doing in the world. Ryan Hoag: Are there any favorite videos you've had that you've uploaded on our site? Tyler Mason: I have quite a few of them that I really liked, one that got some attention was, a compilation of the city of Minneapolis, that I put [00:01:00] together. I had the music from a rap group here in town, called Atmosphere. It talks about living in Minnesota so I had some shots of different landmarks in Minnesota, couple of the stadiums and I got a pretty good response from that. So I'd probably say that one. And I'm looking to add to that one too, get some more shots of the city, but that's probably one of my favorites so far. Ryan Hoag: And you're a diehard sports fan. Now, you're not a Minnesota fan, you're more of a Wisconsin fan, which we don't like to promote, but if you had the opportunity to be the drone pilot for any [00:01:30] sporting event in the world, if they allowed it, which would you choose and where would you position your drone? Tyler Mason: I've always been a big baseball fan, so I might say the World Series, even though I know drones aren't allowed over the stadiums, but if they were, hypothetically, just being over the infield and seeing the batter and the pitcher from a drone perspective. I think that would really be, a look that viewers would love to see, something that I would love to see too. So, that would probably be one place I'd position the drone. And then maybe flying around the outfields, see if any of the batters could hit the drone during [00:02:00] batting practice. Ryan Hoag: And sports seem to be a consistent theme with some of your uploads. What are some of your favorite sporting videos you've uploaded on your site? Tyler Mason: Couple of the stadiums that I've done, Target Field in Minneapolis. I did a pickup football game with some friends of mine. I filmed that with a drone. And then recently I just uploaded one of myself dunking on a hoop. It was not 10 feet, but it was fun just to mess around with it and edit that together and made my own little highlight reel, so it was fun too. Ryan Hoag: [00:02:30] And now you have AirVūz, this community that's promoting the growth of drone videography. What's your favorite thing about our site? Tyler Mason: Just all the talented and creative users that are here. I go on and see so many videos that I can only dream of being able to produce that kind of content. And it really inspires me and kind of pushes me to up my game a little bit, when I see just a fantastic shot that some of these users are getting, and some of the editing that they're doing. And seeing all the creativity on AirVūz really inspires me. Ryan Hoag: [00:03:00] And you talk about being inspired by some of our users. Do you have any users in particular that you like to follow? Tyler Mason: There's quite a few. Queen of the Drone, I always enjoy watching her videos, they're a lot of fun. Filipino Flight Tales, I know you also had on The Drone Dish. He's just got some amazing, amazing shots. Eric Pineda, he's got some beautiful footage too. And I also like to get some inspiration from celebrities that come into town here in Minneapolis, I'll tweet at them and see if they have any interest in flying, I tweeted at Adele recently, Steph [00:03:30] Curry, Carly Rae Jepson, Hillary Clinton. So far everybody I've tweeted at, I haven't gotten a response, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Ryan Hoag: Do you have a favorite place, or a place that you're hoping to get to, to fly your drone at? Tyler Mason: I would love to go back to Italy with my drone. I was there shortly after receiving my drone last year, but I didn't bring it with me, because I was pretty new. But I would love to go back to the Cinque Terre area along the coast there. Maybe to Florence and Venice, and just capture what to me is, maybe the most beautiful country in the world. Or at least the most beautiful [00:04:00] that I've been to. So Italy is probably at the top of my list. Ryan Hoag: Let's lighten it up a little bit, Tyler. Tell us one fun fact and it can't be anything about you being a Wisconsin Badger fan, that your fans and followers might not know about you. Tyler Mason: Before I got into droning I was a sports writer for a number of years, so for about four and a half years, I covered the Minnesota Twins, the Minnesota Golden Gophers, and occasionally, the Minnesota Wild, and Minnesota Vikings, as well. So I'm a writer by trade, but now I've gotten into the drones and I try to mix my love for [00:04:30] sports, as you mentioned with my love for drones too. I think it's worked out okay. Ryan Hoag: Well I'm follower's of your work and find you at Tyler J. Mason on AirVūz, on our site. We appreciate Tyler, all you do for our community, and we look forward to more uploads soon. Tyler Mason: Sounds good, thanks Ryan.
