The mountains near Romantsevo (called "Romantsevskye", "Konduki")

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :

For decades during Soviet times, most of Russia's electric power generation was fired by coal, particularly the low-grade variety called lignite.  While coal-fired plants now provide less than 20% of the country's electricity supply, the massive amounts of lignite mined to date have fundamentally transformed the landscape of former coal-producing areas.  In this fascinating drone video by romanblats, you'll get an aerial view of one of these areas in Tula; south of the national capital, it's in the heart of the Moscow Coal Basin.
