The main old Edinburgh Royal Infirmary (operating 1879–2003) was located at Lauriston Place in the city centre. Known for its Victorian architecture and central clock tower, this site was redeveloped into the Quartermile residential/commercial area. Previously, it was located on Infirmary Street, which was active from 1741 until the move to Lauriston Place
