Bucovina is part of the historical region of Moldavia in Eastern/Southeastern Europe, running north from the Eastern Carpathian Mountains. It was once entirely within the borders of Romania but the northern part of it was taken by the Soviet Union before World War II and is now part of the Ukraine. Contributor George Moldovan created a brilliant video of the Romanian portion of Bucovina, a mountainous pastoral land replete with impressive baronial estates and medieval churches and monasteries.
