AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE : Contributor and drone pilot oszibusz created this beautiful aerial video of a pair of iconic landmarks in County Kent in Southeastern England. The first is Tonbridge Castle, which is situated on the River Medway. The castle was built at the behest of Richard fitz Gilbert, one of the lieutenants of William the Conqueror during the 11th century Norman Conquest. The second spot is Hadlow Castle. An 18th century manor, it was mostly demolished in the 20th century save for its tower, which was recently refurbished.

Tonbridge Castle Following the Norman Conquest, Richard Fitz Gilbert was granted land in Kent to guard the crossing of the River Medway. He erected a simple Motte-and-bailey castle on the site. To dig the moat and erect the motte 50,000 tonnes of earth were moved. In 1088, the de Clare family (descendants of Fitz Gilbert) rebelled against King William II. Hadlow Castle Hadlow Castle was an 18th-century country house in Hadlow, Kent, England, built in the fashionable Strawberry Hill 'Gothic' style. The house was gradually enlarged and extended during the 19th century and finally demolished in the 20th, apart from a prospect tower and ancillary buildings. The surviving Grade I Listed Hadlow Tower, locally known as May's Folly, was restored in 2013.
