A wind turbine is a propeller used to convert wind energy into electrical energy. A wind turbine is a modern version of the windmills used to grind wheat for flour. There are two types of wind turbines: Horizontal axis turbines, where the mechanical energy from the horizontal axis rotation is connected directly to the generator, reminiscent of a fan, and vertical axis turbines, in which the horizontal axis rotates a vertical axis connected to the generator at the base of the turbine. The use of turbines is common worldwide, and Denmark is one of the pioneers in using this energy source.
