Getting ready for Droneworlds 2016 - less than a week to go!
So Cobra sent me some CP2207/2300kv motors to try. Loving the CP2205 series as I do, I was really intrigued to see what these could do. Weight wise they carry about 5.5g more weight according to my cheap kitchen scales, but they look really sleek for a 2207. Comparing to my CM2208/2000 motors they look very compact, and they mount on pods easier than some 2208 motors do as the propeller spins at a lower height.
As a racer and freestyler, I don't usually expect to get everything I want from one single motor. Now, I need to do a bit more testing before I decide - but based on the couple of flights I recorded in this video today, after a fairly rigorous tuning session, I'm inclined to both race and freestyle at Droneworlds with the CP2207/2300. My prop of choice with this motor is HQ's DP5x4.5x3v2 - not the polycarbonate (PC) version - but the softer durable material. While durability is not a big win for freestyle since you lose points for unintended hits, the fact that I can use the same prop without losing agility / efficiency is a big win - it means I don't need as many 'spare quads' as I can run very similar configs for both freestyle and racing, and means I spend less time tuning.
So, here it is - have a look and tell me what you think - the idea was to showcase both raceability and freestyle prowess. I could probably get the tune even tighter, but for a first stab I'm pretty satisfied. Here's the deal - if I get >20 comments and >40 likes I'll post the PIDs that I used - and a follow up with fine tuning details. Can't say fairer than that right?
I'm flying Kiss FC, Kiss24A - RC29-2 & 1.03h. And I'm flying iXura AE - the best 5" frame on the market for me, and I hope for you too! https://www.65drones.com/collections/ikurafpv/products/ixura-by-ikurafpv
