Part of the Southern Limestone Alps, the Dolomites are spread across seven provinces in the (west to east) Trentino-Alto-Adigio, Veneto, and Friuli-Venezia Giulia regions. Known for their distinctive sharp peaks, the Dolomites range in height up to about 11k ft. above sea level (just over 3.3k m).
