Willemstad is the capital of the island nation of Curaçao, one of the three so-called "ABC" islands which were part of the Netherlands Antilles until its dissolution in 2010. The city was founded by the Dutch in the 17th century, following their capture of a number of territories from Spain. The old city of Willemstad has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Willemstad capital of Curacao, a Dutch Caribbean island. The Floating Queen Emma Bridge connects the Punda and Otrobanda neighborhoods across Sint Anna Bay. Punda was established in 1634, when the Dutch captured the island from Spain. The city center, with its unique architecture and harbor entry, has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
