The falls drop about 75m into a natural amphitheater on the western side of Black Bluff. The area is notable for it's historic remains of pioneer logging days when King Billy Pine, a Tasmanian Conifer, was logged using bullock teams in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The logs were bought out along skid-ways and a wooden tramway. The Tramway Track partially follows the path of the original logging tramway. Remnants of Tramway and skid-ways are still visible on the side of the track.
