The Spitzingsee is located near the town of Schliersee in the Miesbach district of Bavaria, one of the two main state of southern Germany. It sits within the Schliersee Mountains, a subchain of the Mangfall Mountains which in turn form part of the Bavarian Prealps. Situated at an altitude of just under 3.6k ft. above sea level (just under 1.1k m), the lake covers an area of about 70 acres.
