Day of Lifting the Blockade of Leningrad

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :

January 27 is an important day in St. Petersburg, Russia, a city which was known as Leningrad in Soviet times.  On January 27, 1944, the Red Army finally broke through the German forces which had encircled the city in the first months of the Great Patriotic War (as World War II is known in the former USSR), ending a nearly 900 day siege which had resulted in up to a million civilian deaths from starvation and cold.  In this excellent drone video by AirVuz contributor Skyslant, you'll see the commemoration of this historic event.
