SINJAJEVINA – THE BIGGEST PASTURE IN THE BALKANS! Sinjajevina is a vast Montenegrin mountain that lies between the canyons of Tara, Šaranac, Jezera Drobnjački, the river Tušina and the sides of Gornja Morača and Pčinja. It is 35 to 40 km long and 10 to 15 km wide.Building on the plateau of Durmitor and stretching from Žabljak to the southeast, bordered on the northeast side by the Tara canyon, and on the southwest side by the Morača canyon, with the two largest and most imposing Montenegrin river canyons, it stretches all the way to the Kolašin and Mojkovac valleys, on the opposite side. On the northwest side are the Tušinje and Bukovica canyons, which border the mountain on that side.In addition, Sinjajevina is in the central part of the most beautiful mountain area of Montenegro, surrounded by mountain massifs where the glacial and tectonic effects were decisive and dramatic. However, one part of Sinjajevina, into which the long valley of Donji and Gornji Lipov, through which the Plasnica flows as a tributary of the Tara, enters and intersects from the southeast from the direction of Kolašin, is surrounded by impressive peaks and high rocky cliffs. The highest peaks of Sinjajevina are: Babji Zub (2277 m), Vranova Glava (2215 m), Jablanov Vrh (2203 m), Gradište (2174 m), Sto (2172 m), Savina greda (2101 m).It is assumed that rivers once flowed over the surface of Sinjajeva, which is evidenced by the huge number of dry valleys, their branching and diversity. Thus, fluvial erosion, once clearly very developed, has left its traces - fossil river valleys through which no river flows now. With a pasture area of 120,000 ha, on which hundreds of thousands of sheep can be grazed, Sinjajevina belongs to the pasture-stocking mountains. The lack of water on a large part of the plateau contributed to the fame of the harsh conditions on the bare Sinjajevina. The vast surface of the Sinjajevina mountain, bordered by the magnificent canyon of the Tara River and decorated with the Zaboj Lake, with excellent terrains for Nordic skiing disciplines, represents a God-given area for the development of mountain tourism. It is characterized by the simplicity of its natural forms and good potential opportunities for certain winter sports, summer recreation and hiking.
