It is a complex of military buildings built in 1942 by the Germans, the construction of which is linked to the policy of the German military leadership for the fortification of the beaches of the Balkan and Aegean regions. The position of the observatory is a strategic one, since it allows the navigation to the Aegean Sea as well as sea routes to the southern Peloponnese (bypass of the Peloponnese), Crete etc.
