2020 Drone Videos of the Week: Episode 32

Every week, our team reviews every video uploaded to the site to pick the Top 5 videos. Then, we name our favorite as our Drone Video of the Week and send that drone pilot $ 250. Get a comprehensive aerial tour of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in this fantastic drone video by top AirVuz contributor el gringo rojo.  This DVOW winning video was shot over the course of a five-week stay in Brazil's second-largest city and cultural capital.  The video features footage from hikes to the Christ the Redeemer (Cristo Redentor) statue, Pedra Bonita, and Dois Irmoas.  You'll also be treated to footage of the aqueducts in Lapa, the Museum of Tomorrow, Parque Lage, and Sugarloaf Mountain (Pao De Azucar), as well as some of Rio's famous beaches. 

Hailing from Germany, haussmannvisuals is one of the top content creators in the AirVuz community.  In this piece, the multiple Drone Video of the Week Finalist and Drone Video Award Nominee gives us a breathtaking aerial view of the mountains of eastern Switzerland.  The area filmed is called the Alpstein, and it's a masif within the Appenzell Alps.  One of the northernmost parts of the entire Alps system, the Alpstein is located across the cantons of  Appenzell Innerrhoden, Appenzell Ausserrhoden and St. Gallen.

Check out this fantastic DVOW nominated video of the "Sacred Plain" of Bagan in the Southeast Asian country of Myanmar, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Travel Imagez.  Located on a bend of the Irrawaddy River in the western part of the country, the plain was the heart of the powerful Pagan Kingdom.  During the height of the kingdom from the 11th-13th centuries AD, it's estimated that over 10,000 Buddhist temples, pagodas, and monasteries were built; about 4,000 of these structures remain today.  

Prepare to be amazed by this DVOW nominated film of Athens, Greece, compliments of  contributor Damian.  Opening with some shots of the hills surrounding the capital city, the video cuts to its most famous landmark: the Parthenon temple within the hilltop citadel known as the Athens Acropolis.    Then it's on to the Olympic Stadium, the main venue for the 2004 Summer Games which were held here.  From there you'll see more footage of the Acropolis, followed by shots of the city's marina's, before closing with an epic shot of Mount Lycabettus.  

Top AirVuz contributor and drone pilot Dave Yip brings us this DVOW nominated video of an extinct volcano in central California.  It's called the Coso Volcanic Field, and it's located in the Mojave Desert about 160 km (around 100 mi.) northeast of the city of Bakersfield.  The field is one of the most seismologically active areas in the United States, and the area frequently sees tremor "storms" involving hundreds of small quakes.  The area is also home to the Coso Geothermal, one of the largest geothermal installations in the country.
