2020 Drone Videos of the Week: Episode 35

Take an aerial tour of the great Southeastern USA state of Alabama, compliments of new contributor Clark Lupton.  Most of the video was filmed around Mobile Bay, the giant inlet which lies at the heart of the state's coastline.  Featured locations include the city of Mobile, the great port at the head of the bay; Orange Beach, a town just southeast of the bay, on the Gulf of Mexico; Dauphin Island, which is situated in the bay's mouth; Point Clear, a beach community on the eastern side of the bay; and more.  

Check out these stunning drone views of Italy's fabled Tuscany region, compliments of former Drone Video of the Week Winner Jackanda.  The video was filmed in the southern part of the region, in the provinces of Siena and Grosseto.  Featured locations include the town of Pitigliano at the southern tip of Tuscany, the Madonna di Vitaleta Chapel in San Quirico d'Orcia, the Abbey of Sant’Antimo, Montepulciano, Monteriggioni, Montalcino, Volterra, the city of Siena, San Quirico d’Orcia, San Gimignano, the San Quirico d'Orcia; and more.  

The Lakes District of North West England is home to some of the most beautiful natural scenery in the United Kingdom.  Much of the area is covered by the Lake District National Park, which covers almost 2.4k square km (around 900 square mi.) and is the second-oldest of the UK's National Parks.  Using his DJI Mavic 2 Pro and Sony a6300, AirVūz contributor Marian Peciar was able to capture timelapse and aerial footage of one of England's most popular travel destinations; this video was a Drone Video of the Week winner in August, 2020. 

Check out this mesmerizing aerial film of Iceland's South Coast by drone pilot and former Drone Video Award Winner snorrithor.  Beautifully edited, the piece captures the other-worldly feel of this North Atlantic Ocean island, which was formed by volcanic activity on a massive ridge which connects the European and North American continents.  An infant in geological terms, Iceland's has some of the most unique topography.  This video was selected as a nominee in the Drone Video of the Week contest in August, 2020.

In this excellent drone video by Lyon Drone Services, you'll see the great city of Lyon, France as it appeared virtually empty during the Covid-19 panedemic in 2020.  Located at the confluence of the Rhône and Saône Rivers about 470 km (around 300 mi.) southeast of Paris, Lyon is the center of France's second-largest metropolitan area.  The video features stunning footage of the city's riverfront, the impressive Basilica of Fourvière in the hills above the city, and the empty Place Bellecour, one of France's largest public squares.
