2020 Drone Videos of the Week: Episode 52

AirVuz contributor kevinmichaeltravel brings us this excellent drone video from the municipality of Schwangau at the southern tip of Germany.  Set in the foothills of the Bavarian Alps, Schwangau is home to two of Germany's most famous castles, both of which feature prominently in the video.  The first, Hohenschwangau Castle, was built in the 1830's by the Bavarian King Maximilian II.  The second, even more famous, is Neuschwanstein Castle.  It was completed in 1882 for Maximilian's son Ludwig II, in honor of the composer Richard Wagner.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Winner AndriThor brings us this absolutely magnificent drone video from magical Iceland.  Following a shot of a coastal mountain, you'll fly over the famous Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon in the southeastern part of the country.  At about the :44 mark, you'll see the Reynisfjara Black Sand Beach, and at the 1:03 mark there's a magnificent shot of the waves of the North Atlantic pounding the shoreline.  Other shots will take you over some of the island's glaciers, waterfalls, and interior highlands.  

Take a tour of Latin America in this fantastic 2020 reel by Itay sorin.  Combining drone and ground camera footage, the video features shots of the Huayhuash mountain range in Peru; the Salar de Uyuni Salt Flats in Bolivia; the southern Chilean town of Pucón; the Iguazu waterfall on the Brazilian/Argentine border; the Tayrona area on Colombia's Caribbean coast; the Carretera Austral route in Patagonian Chile; the glaciers near Ushaia in southern Argentina; Colombia's Rock of Guatape; La Paloma, Uruguay; Mexico's Isla Mujeres; and more. 

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Chris Borg brings us this fantastic drone video from the island of Madeira, a region of Portugal which lies hundreds of km/mi from the Portuguese mainland.  Shot with a DJI Mavic Pro 2, the video opens with a top-down shot of the Madeira coastline and then heads to its interior.  The piece features some epic dronelapses from the Madeira mountains peeking through the clouds that covered its lower elevations, as well as some great shots of its giant offshore rock formations and its hillside towns.

Check out this stunning aerial film of the Ural Mountains by drone pilot and AirVūz contributor CINEMADRONE. The Ural Mountains are a mountain range that runs approximately from north to south through western Russia, from the coast of the Arctic Ocean to the river Ural and northwestern Kazakhstan. Using a DJI Mavic Pro 2 and a DJI Inspire, this drone pilot was able to capture the beauty of this mountain range during peak fall foliage. This video earned a Drone Video of the Week nomination in December 2020.
