2020 Drone Videos of the Week: Episode 53

Top contributor Jay Christensen brings us this masterpiece of a drone reel from his home city of Minneapolis. The film uses a variety of drone footage to show the empty downtowns due to the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown, as well as the protests, rioting, and devastation following the death of George Floyd at the hands of four Minneapolis police officers on Memorial Day, which triggered some of the most serious racial unrest in the USA in decades.  Also seen are empty Target Field, US Bank Stadium, Target Center, Excel Center, and Allianz Field. 

Take a two minute aerial tour of Rome, Italy in this excellent piece by former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Mauro Sciambi.  The first stop is the Victor Emmanuel II Monument on the Piazza Venezia.  From there, you'll head to the Colosseum, and then to the Piazza Navone.  Starting at about the :55 mark, there's a great shot of the Castel Sant'Angelo (Mausoleum of Hadrian), and at 1:05 you'll fly over the Pantheon.  At around the 1:20 mark, you'll see the Piazza del Popolo, followed by a nice view of the Spanish Steps.  

AirVuz contributor and pilot Drone Photography Ireland brings us this fantastic drone video of some coastal spots in Ireland.  While the country covers a modest area of about 84k square km (a little under 33k square mi.), it has an enormously long coastline totaling 6.2k km (around 3.9k mi.), most of which is in the western part of the island with its series of peninsulas.  The video features footage from all around this enormous coast, including shots of Fanad Head Lighouse in County Donegal, Hook Lighthouse in County Wexford, and more.  

Check out this outstanding showreel by AirVūz contributor MadameDrone. This reel has a variety of footage including beautiful landscape views such as the Cantabrian Mountains of northwestern Spain, two-wheel and car chasing, wildlife in their natural habitat, and landmarks such as the 25 de Abril Bridge in Lisbon, Portugal.  This Spanish based aerial cinematography and photography company uses a DJI Inspire for their aerial footage. This video earned a Drone Video of the Week nomination in December 2020. 

Check out these stunning drone views of Switzerland in wintertime, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot wjmdronie.  The video features stunning top-down footage of the Swiss Alps, the great mountain range which cover much of the southern part of this Central European country.  Winter in Switzerland starts in December and ends in March and depending on the region temperatures range from -10°C (14°F) to 4°C (39°F). This film earned a Drone Video of the Week nomination in January of 2021.
