2023 Drone Videos of the Week: Episode 13

Explore the North Caucasus region of Russia in this fantastic drone video by former Drone Video of the Week Winner Supasanya.  The North Caucasus area includes several provinces and republics in the southern part of the country, between the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov to the west and the Caspian Sea to the east, on the northern slopes of the great mountain range which divides Europe from Asia.  The video features both gimbal-stabilized shots from a DJI Mavic 3 drone as well as some incredible first person view (FPV) drone footage.  

Explore the majesty of the French Alps in wintertime with this excellent video by Bastien Nvs.  The video combines first person view (FPV) drone footage with gimbal-stabilized shots from a DJI Mavic drone as well as a few shots from a ground camera.  At about the 1:05 mark, there's a great shot flying over a mountain bridge as a train crosses it, followed by overhead shots of the same train as it winds through a forest.  Further on in the video, you'll be treated to some great FPV views skimming the treetops and diving steep canyons.    

Former DVOW Finalist Chris Jeon brings us this magnificent video record of a 30 day trip to Iceland.  Created using drone footage supplemented with ground camera shots, the video's first aerial view (at the :15 mark) is of the Dyrhólaey rock arch near Vik, on the island's southern coastline.  Then you'll head to one of Iceland's black sand beaches, followed by a flyover of a glacial lagoon.  Other highlights include the Goðafoss waterfall in the northern part of the island (at the 1:07 mark), the famous DC-3 wreck (2:54), and more.   

Explore the fabled Portuguese island of Madeira via first person view (FPV) drone in this excellent video by Elouan Gaudin.  The video makes great use of establishing shots filmed with a gimbal-stabilized drone.  At about the :30 mark, you'll see the Véu da Noiva waterfall on the island's northern coastline, followed by an epic shot skimming a ridge an interior mountain.  At 1:45, you'll fly between two giant rock pillars, and at about 2:35 you'll buzz a giant rock formation at the Ponta de Sao Lourenco, on the island's eastern end.  

Multiple Drone Video of the Week Winner Postandfly brings us this stunning drone video from the desert of northern Mexico.  The video was filmed near the town of Cuatro Ciénegas, which is located in the Chihuahuan Desert, roughly in the middle of the state of Coahuila.  The area is known for its wetlands, which you'll see throughout the video.  The Chihuahuan Desert covers much of the area along either side of the US/Mexican border.  The video was filmed with a DJI Mavic 3 Cine as well as a Avata first person view (FPV) drone.
