Best FPV Dives

Hold on to your hats for this epic first person view (FPV) dive of the tallest free-standing structure in Europe, compliments of top AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot Drone Huenchurs.   Ostankino Tower is a TV/radio transmission tower and observation deck on the northern outskirts of Moscow, Russia.  The tower stands 540 meters tall (about 1.8k ft.).  When it was completed in 1967, it surpassed New York's Empire State Building to become the world's tallest structure, a title it held until the Canada's CN Tower was completed in 1974.    

Have you ever seen a drone video from the inside of a waterfall? Pretty sure you haven't... At least, not until now! Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot airblastr had this crazy idea to fly through the icy curtain of a waterfall.  Instead of just waiting for the urge to pass he actually did it, and the quad survived to tell the tale.  We are told that no quads were harmed in the filming of this video, which was a Finalist at the second annual Drone Video Awards' in the FPV Freestyle Cinematic nominated video.

Prepare to be blown away by this first person view (FPV) drone video from the world's tallest skyscraper.  Top AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot MrFpv | manuelbass was able to dive the Burj Khalifa tower in Dubai to capture footage for a promotional video for the 2021 blockbuster Spider-Man: No Way Home.  The movie grossed over a billion US dollars worldwide in less than a month, including huge audiences throughout the Middle East.  This video was the Winner of the Drone Video of the Week contest in late 2021.  

Contributor and FPV pilot Airblastr created this incredibly cinematic FPV video of a dive down one of the great landmarks of the USA's rich mining history.   The Anaconda Smelter Stack, better known as the Big Stack, istands at a height of 180 meters (about 585 ft.).  The tallest surviving masonry structure in the world, it was a critical process component for the smelter at the great Anaconda copper mine in Great Falls, Montana.  Built in the early 20th century, this was once the world's largest copper mine.   

This video is thirty seconds of sheer, cliff-side diving and looping fun.  Talented AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot craig_dt is taking us to the “White Rock” which he says is a steep rock that approximately 100 meters, or 328 feet, tall and has several caves surrounding it. He’ll open up quick with a dive down into the base of the cliff, then loop back up and over its impressive ledges. Although short, the location and flying skills in this video earned him an AirVuz FPV Pilots to Watch nod in September of 2019.

Prepare to be amazed by this first person view (FPV) drone video of an epic dive session over one of the world's most prominent skyscrapers, compliments of AirVuz contributor pilot n0i3e: Lakhta Center in St. Petersburg, Russia, which has the distinction of being Europe's tallest skyscraper as of 2021.  Completed in 2018, the ultra-modern "twisted" structure stands nearly half a kilometer (460 meters, or about 1.5k ft.) above the Lakhta neighborhood northwest of St. Petersburg's historic city center.  

Looking for a front row seat to a heart-stopping feat?  Watch this wild FPV video of Base Jumping in the heart of Moscow from a highrise project still under construction.  FPV pilot craig_dt was up to the challenge and provided a crispy clear vantage point of the whole dive. These bando silos have an interesting history. Located at the Port of San Francisco’s Pier 92, these grain silos on Islais Creek were used to store the grain that was delivered by railway then loaded on to the ships for export. Since abandoned, they are now home to the Bayview Rise mural you see in this bando video by FPV pilot InspireFPV. He’ll dive and explore the urban location, giving us views of the bay and the beautiful murals all at once.  This video earned our contributor a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in June of 2019.

First person view (FPV) quad diving is a tricky maneuver, and while skyscrapers are obviously great FPV diving "targets" they can be off limits due to safety concerns and/or legal restrictions.  That's why chimneys have always held such appeal for prospective FPV divers - they can be extremely tall, and passerby's are rare to non-existent.  How tall? The tallest chimney in Europe is the Trbovlje Power Station flue stack in Slovenia, which stands 360 meters or about 1.2k ft; it's expertly dived by SchimeFPV in this amazing FPV dive video. 

The Hwatae bridge is one of the world’s largest cable strung bridges. Located in Dolsan town, part of Yeosu in South Korea, the bridge is on national route 77 and connects Dolsan to Hwatae Island.  In this impressive first person view (FPV) drone video, AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot Jay Yu uses a racing quad to put the bridge in an entirely new perspective. He’ll take no prisoners as he spans the length of the bridge, dives from the top of the cables down towards the sea, and straight through the dominating pillars.

Réunion Island, in the Indian Ocean, is home to one of the world's most active volcanoes: Piton de la Fournaise.  You can check it out from a unique perspective in this brilliant first person view (FPV) video by JulienM FPV.  After first showing us the active eruption in the volcano's caldera, he then goes into an epic dive over the lava, proving both his flying mettle and his daring behavior.  For providing a visual perspective likely never before seen, we put him on our FPV Pilots to Watch list in February, 2020. 

Travel + Leisure has told us that the famous Guitar Hotel (aka the Hollywood Hardrock Casino) is a bucket list destination, but how many of us really get to see it all up close and personal like FLIP MODE FPV's drone has?  The iconic hotel in south Florida became a freestyle diving playground for this pilot who's clearly put his time into perfecting these acrobatic plunges (was that a backwards dive?), and trust us, the FPV community took notice.  So did we...nice job on making our February 7, 2020 FPV Pilots to watch list, FLIP MODE FPV!

Extreme first person view (FPV) mountain diving and mountain surfing doesn’t mean the pilot is in any more danger than usual, but the quad certainly is. Check out this recent flight by AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot COLA, who says this dive was an amazing experience and also his best FPV adrenaline rush. You can see why when you factor in how far he traveled, how fast he flew, and the ridiculously sharp edges he navigated his bird through.  This video was featured on the AirVuz social media pages in mid-2019.

Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot BrooklynMarkFPV used a racing quad to "tackle" one of the world's great architectural landmarks: New York's Empire State Building.  Located at 5th Avenue and 33rd Street in Midtown Manhattan, the 102 story Art Deco masterpiece was completed in 1931, during the depths of the Great Depression.  Standing 381 meters at its roof height (1.25k ft.), it was the world's tallest skyscraper for four decades until dethroned by the World Trade Center; it remains one of the city's most iconic spots.  

Talk about an epic first person view (FPV) dive! Top AirViz contributor and FPV pilot Drone My Life takes us along on an amazing FPV ride in the French Alps region.  He used a racing quad to first cruise and then dive into the Verdon Gorge - a giant canyon sometimes called the Grand Canyon of Europe.  Down he goes, over a 400 meter (about 1.3k ft.) cliff, pulling up before crashing into the river which runs through it.  This video was picked for the AirVuz FPV Pilots to Watch list in June, 2020.

Using his GoPro 7 to go along with his GEPRC 5" setup, AirVuz contributor and pilot maiafpv put together this marvelous first person view (FPV) diving piece from the coast of Brazil.  Tackling the lighthouse of Alagoas in Brazil's Northeastern region, his piece gives a great perspective on the lighthouse as well as the surrounding white-sand beaches, coral reefs, secluded lagoons, and other coastal scenery.  We felt it was a worthy addition to the FPV Pilots to Watch list in February, 2020. 

This video is not “just some dives in the Alps,” it’s a ride through one of the most famous mountain ranges in the world. AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot vltluigi takes us to the French Alps where he will perform plenty of dives, but will also take us around the lush forest that surrounds the peaks. It’s one of those pieces that seems so simple, yet is incredibly captivating in a way that only mini quads can be.  This video was tapped for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in September, 2019.

The sandstone pillars of the Zhangjiajie National Forest Park in the interior Chinese province of Hunan have become a popular tourist attraction over the past decades.  In no small measure, their popularity as been driven by their appearance as filming location for the 2009 sci fi epic Avatar, the highest grossing movie of all time.  In this excellent first person view (FPV) video by AirVuz contributor drew.drone, you'll get a unique perspectve of these natural wonders, which he is able to dive with alacrity using his long-range FPV setup. 

In this first person view (FPV) video by contributor and drone pilot wons fpv, you'll see the tallest skyscraper in South Korea from an entirely new perspective.  Completed in 2016, the 123 story Lotte Tower stands almost 555 meters tall (just over 1.8k ft.) above the streets of Seoul.  Nearly twice as tall as the next tallest building in the capital city, it's the fifth tallest in the world as of early 2019.  Wons fpv advises that he flew with permission from the building and took appropriate safety precautions.    

Taking us along for the dive of a lifetime, AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) drone pilot Exphrasis says he’s had a fun year of flying and we can see why in this video. Earning himself a spot on our AirVuz FPV Pilots to Watch list in February of 2019 and a place in our Best FPV Dives collection, he’ll brought us out to a few spots he’s flown this past year. Our favorite location is the opening dive, thing a massive skyscraper by storm with his mini quad in the dark of night. 

Today's top first person view (FPV) pilots can tackle even the tallest skyscrapers, creating footage that would be literally impossible to otherwise capture.  Case in point is this fantastic piece by ilya_fpv.  He managed to FPV dive one of the world's most famous skyscrapers: Chicago's Willis Tower.  Once known as the Sears Tower, the 110 behemoth was the world's tallest building when it opened in 1973.  With an architectural height of 441 meters (1.45k ft.), it remained the USA's tallest building for over four decades.

AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot nik.scherer was able to perform some incredible dives on an unusual structure: the world's tallest elevator test tower.  Fast, energy efficient, and of course safe elevators are one of the most important features of skyscrapers, particularly in the proliferating class of supertall buildings.  This tower in the southwest German state of Baden-Württemberg was built for one purpose: to test skyscraper elevators.  Well, maybe two purposes, you might say after watching this incredible piece.  

Contributor and FPV TapkiFPV created this epic first person view (FPV) dive of one of the most visible landmarks from Barcelona's 1992 Olympic Games.  The Montjuïc Communications Tower (aka Calatrava Tower) was constructed in the years leading up to the games as part of the broadcasting infrastructure for the event.  Located in the Olympic Park, the tower stands just over 135 meters (446 ft.) tall.  Watch the video to get a unique perspective on this landmark on the city's Montjuïc hill.  

Outside of Seattle, Washington there are two massive cooling towers of a never-completed power plant. Washington Nuclear Project Numbers 3 and 5, abbreviated as WNP-3 and WNP-5, were two of the five nuclear power plants meant to help power the Pacific Northwest in the late 1970’s.  Like many nuclear projects underway at the time, this was never completed due to the accident at Three Mile Island.  Top AirVuz contributor and DRL Champion Nurkfpv had the chance to fly his mini quad through the old cooling towers in this epic bando piece. 

The Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge was completed over 100 years ago in 1909 over the East River in New York City, New York. Also known as the 59th Street Bridge because its Manhattan end is located between 59th and 60th streets, it is a cantilever bridge and is a bit over 1.1k meters (3.7k ft.) in length.   In this first person view (FPV) video by AirVuz contributor Dovescape_fpv, you will get a unique perspective on this iconic Big Apple landmark; this was picked as an AirVuz FPV Pilot to Watch video from October of 2019.

Coit Tower is an art deco architectural masterpiece on Telegraph Hill in the heart of San Francisco.  It is dedicated to those who perished in major fires in San Francisco, including the fire which occurred in connection with the great 1906 earthquake and which actually was responsible for most of the damage in the catastrophe.  In this video, top drone racing pilot and contributor SFPV flew a racing quadcopter via first person view (FPV) over this iconic California landmark, which sits in the USA's Register of Historic Places.  

Talented AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot Carcara_fpv takes us on a journey in southern England which involves some smooth coastal cruising and epic cliff diving.  The spot is around the town of Eastbourne, near Brighton in the county of East Sussex.  The chalk cliffs here closely resemble the fabled White Cliffs of Dover, which lies a bit to the east of here.  The video begins as a traditional coastal surfing video, but watch what happens when he hits those cliffs and then heads straight over, seemingly into the abyss.

AirVuz contributor and FPV Pilot tamtantrik, brings us these first person view (FPV) dive sessions from Turkey's Afyonkarahisar Castle and Ulu Mosque in the Afyon Province of Central Anatolia.  Afyonkarahisar Castle was built around 1350 BC and is the massive, historical fort in Afyonkarahisar, Turkey on the rocky cliff you see in this video. Below it is Anyone Ulu Camii, a historical mosque that was built back in 1272.  This video earned our contributor a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in November, 2019.  

AirVuz contributor and first-person-view (FPV) pilot drew.drones managed to dive one of the world's most formidable structures: China's Bailong Elevator.  Cut into the side of a giant cliff in the Wulingyuan area of Zhangjiajie in the interior province of Hunan.  Opened in 2002, the elevator stands 326 meters tall, or just under 1.1k ft.  It's believed to be the world's tallest outdoor elevator.  For his efforts, this talented content creator earned himself a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in January, 2021.     

Are you ready for this heartstopping dive down the Dangar Falls in New South Wales Australia?  Talented drone pilot Croble FPV isn't holding back as he glides down the rushing waters of this waterfall.  As the recent rains had been plentiful, the footage reflects the magnificent, charging display of free flowing water. However, the falls have been known to go 'bone dry' when the precipation hasn't been as favorable.  Capturing this natural glory in its full on glory, he earned a spot on our FPV Pilots to Watch list in January of 2020. 

This extended version of AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot RussellFPV’s dive in one of the craziest locations we’ve ever seen is definitely worth the watch even if you’ve seen the shorter, freestyle edition. He’ll roll, dive, and float over a man-made geyser out at sea just kissing the water with his quad as it rushes up, out, and over the structure is comes from. He’ll even do a little tree surfing over Japan’s infamous sakura, or cherry blossom, filled trees in between his epic dives.

AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot louishouiller takes us to southern England for an epic ride along through the seaside town of Brighton.  The highlight of the video is a dive of the British Airways i360 Observation Tower, one of the modern landmarks of this town in East Sussex.  Located at the site of the former Western Pier and completed in 2016, the tower stands 162 meters (531 ft.).  The video, which also features other footage from the Brighton waterfront, was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in July, 2020.  

When it comes to epic first person view (FPV) drone dives, large construction cranes occupy a special place in the hearts of FPV pilots around the world.  Diving the height of these tall structures with racing quads can bring a rush of adrenaline that is hard to match.  They frequently offer numerous opportunities for hitting gaps and other technical freestyle flourishes that make for some very compelling viewing.  Case in point is this crane-diving piece from legendary FPV pilot JohnnyFPV.  

Check out this epic first person view (FPV) drone dive into a famous canyon in Vietnam, compliments of AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot Wild Sky Visuals.  Ha Giang Canyon is located in its namesake province, the northernmost of the 58 into which the country is divided.  The canyon, which was created by the Nho Que River, has a maximum depth of nearly 3k ft. (about 1k m), making it one of the deepest canyons in Southeastern Asia.  This video was picked for the FPV PIlots to Watch list in January of 2023.  

Since it was completed in 1953, the Main Building of Moscow State University has been the most visible landmark in Moscow.  And yet, you've probably never seen this (rare) Stalinist architectural masterpiece from the perspective of a racing drone.  That's right.  Flying his racing quadcopter with first person view (FPV) goggles, Contributor Shelestpv took a dive down this massive structure, for decades the tallest building in Europe and still the world's tallest educational building.  

In the early days of first person view (FPV) flight, dives were all about showing off piloting ability.  The video footage, while impressive, was often difficult to watch.  As piloting techniques and equipment has improved, that's no longer the case.  Witness this fantastic piece by top AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot WestPsydeFPV.   Using the new GoPro Hero 9 camera, he captured some epic diving footage into the canyons of Moab in western Utah.  This video made the FPV Pilots to Watch list in Octoner, 2020.  

This epic first person view (FPV) piece by AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot flumz fpv is all about diving.  Filmed in the valley known as Valgaudemar near Écrins National Park in the Dauphiné Alps in southeastern France, he bravely takes on the numerous (and quite imposing) natural hazards of the area by diving them with his mini-quad.  Mountains and waterfalls are seemingly easily conquered, in the process creating some amazing footage and earning him a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in June of 2021. 

Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock, is a massive sandstone monolith in Australia. Located in the heart of the Northern Territory’s arid “Red Center,” the rock has been sacred to indigenous peoples for thousands of years. Scientists says it started forming around 550 million years ago. Uluru had been open to tourists and climbers, but has officially closed. Indigenous Australians have celebrated the news since the rock and the area around it are considered sacred. See Uluru by FPV drone in this video.

With most of the world's tallest skyscrapers having been tackled by first-person view (FPV) pilots, attention turns to other types of tall structures.  Like churches.  In this epic FPV piece, AirVuz contributor minidrone.studio uses his mini-drone to take on the world's tallest church.  It's the Ulm Minster, and it's located in its namesake city in the southwestern state of Baden-Württemberg.  The church dates to the Middle Ages, although its steeple didn't reach its current height of 161.5 meters (530 ft. ) until the 19th century.   

The highlight of this first person view (FPV) video by AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot mrgeekseeks is an epic dive of a famous railroad bridge in the USA's Pacific Northwest.  Located in Mason County, Washington, the Vance Creek Bridge was built to facilitate logging in the area.  With a height of just over 100 meters (a bit under 350 ft.), it's one of the tallest railroad bridges in the world.  Decommissioned in the 1970's with the decline of logging on the Olympic Peninsula, it's on the National Register of Historic Places.

Prepare to be amazed by this first-person view (FPV) diving video from a transmission tower in Moscow, Russia, compliments of FPV pilot Drone Huenchurs.  Unbelievably, he was able to dive his mini quad down the "hollow" inside of the tower, something we've never seen before.  Equally impressively, he was able to pull out of his dive and "escape" between the lattices of the tower, which was completed in 2008 and stands 258 meters tall (just under 850 ft.).  This video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in November, 2020.    

Check out this adrenaline-filled first person view (FPV) drone diving video from the famous Space Needle in Seattle, Washington, compiments of AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot Shamkhal_fpv.  The 605 ft. (184 m) observation tower was built for the 1962 World's Fair; at the time, it was the tallest structure west of the Mississippi River.  It remains one of the most recognized landmarks in this Pacific Northwestern city even as its height has been eclipsed by over a dozen skyscrapers in the adjacent Downtown district.  

The Eiger is one of the great peaks of the Bernese Alps in Switzerland, with a peak elevation of nearly 4k meters above sea level (just over 13k ft.).  Overlooking both Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen, it was first ascended in 1858.  In this epic video, you'll take a very different (and much safer) trip up and down the iconic-looking mountain - via a first person view (FPV) racing quad flown by the talented AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot antonvs fpv. He’ll mountain surf and dive the monstrous peak.

Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) drone pilot Tricky FPV brings us this highly cinematic FPV video from the Austrian Alps.  Highlights include a series of dives down the mountainsides into the green valleys below.  The video was filmed in the course of a drive through Tyrol, the principal state of western Austria.  An editorial pick for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in August of 2023, the video was captured on a GoPro action camera and stabilized in post-production with ReelSteady.    

Prepare to be blown away by this fantastic first person view (FPV) drone video from Shanghai by brand-new contributor cycle1337.  This very talented FPV pilot was able to "dive" the two tallest buildings in China's largest city: Shanghai Tower and Shanghai World Financial Center.   The former stands 632 meters tall (2.073k ft.) and is the world's second-tallest building as of 2020.  The latter was Shanghai's tallest from 2008-15 and is distinguished by its "window" which you'll see in an epic fly-through starting at about the :27 mark.

AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) drone pilot SQuiD-FPV takes us on an epic FPV tour of the Wadi Rum Desert in southern Jordan.  Made famous for being the primary filming location of the 1962 epic Lawrence of Arabia, desert is visually distinguished by its nearly-vertical sandstone mountains.  The video features some epic dives down these massive rock structures, by which the desert became a UNESCO World Heritage site in 2011.  This video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in June of 2023.    

Check out this sick first person view (FPV)drone building dive in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, compliments of top AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot BrooklynMarkFPV.  This talented content creator has found a new building to rip around in the city that never sleeps, taking risks flying his mini quad around gaps in the unique architecture of the skyscraper.  For his efforts, this video made our Best FPV Dives collection and was selected for the AirVuz FPV Pilots to Watch list in February of 2019. 

In this stunning video, top first person view (FPV) pilot Tomz FPV gives us a unique perspective from an epic flight into a former ocre (iron) mining area in France known as the French Colorado.  Located in the Vaucluse Department in the southeastern part of the country, the area (sometimes called Colorado Provençal) takes its name from mining areas in the US state of Colorado.  Using some very impressive piloting and filming skills, our talented content creator earned himself a spot on the FPV PIlots to Watch list in August, 2020. 

The Tower of the Americas is one of the most recognizable landmarks in San Antonio, the center of the third-largest metropolitan area in Texas.  Built for the 1968 World's Fair, the observation tower/restaurant stands 229 meters tall or around 750 ft.  It was the tallest observation tower in the USA until 1996, when it was topped by the Stratosphere in Las Vegas.  That's tall, but not too tall for AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot JLucan, who provides us with this epic FPV dive of the iconic structure.  

What happens when the world's best freestyle first-person view (FPV) pilot takes on the planet's tallest building?  Find out in this epic piece by johnnyfpv, who managed to dive the Dubai's Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest skyscraper.  Completed in 2010, the 154 story behemoth rises nearly a kilometer (over a half a mile) into the sky - it's architectural height is 828 meters, or just over 2.7k feet. This video earned a nomination in the Cityscape category at the 6th Annual New York City Drone Film Festival.

For first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor icelandaerials brings us this absolutely spectacular first person view (FPV) drone video of an erupting volcano in Iceland.  The video was filmed over and around the Fagradalsfjall volcano, which began spewing lava in late March, 2021.  The eruption marks the start of a long-awaited resurgence of volcanic activity on the Reykjanes Peninsula, in southwestern Iceland.  Highly cinematic,  this video was an easy choice for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in March, 2021.  

AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) drone pilot Flystream was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in September of 2022 for this fantastic piece in which he dives the sheer cliffs around a town in the foothills of the Italian Alps.  The town is called Arco, and it's located in Trentino, the southern of the two provinces which make up the northern region of Trentino-Alto-Adigio.  The cliffs extend nearly vertically and are topped with a hilltop castle which was built to protect the town.   

AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot L. Morandini earned himself a spot on the AirVuz FPV Pilots to Watch list in September, 2020 with this fantastic FPV piece from one of the most famous landmarks in Spain: the Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey.  Situated on the slopes of Montserrat, the great mountain range just outside of Barcelona, the monastery was originally founded in the 11th century.  The abbey is home of the Virgin of Montserrat, one of the most important icons in Christianity.  

Check out this stunning first person view (FPV) drone mountain surfing piece from the Rocky Mountains by top AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot Flylifeco.  The video was fimed with a GoPro Hero 10, with the footage stabilized in post-production using the ReelSteady video stabilization package.  It was shot in Colorado, home to the tallest peaks of the great North American mountain chain.  Features some epic dives and ridge-skimming, this video was picked for the AirVuz FPV Pilots to Watch list in mid-February of 2022.
