Check out this fantastic 2021 drone reel from the Canadian province of Manitoba, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot TannerNG.  Opening with some shots of the province's windswept prairies, the video then takes you to the wreck of the SS Ithaka, which ran aground on the coast of Hudson Bay in 1960.  At the :27 mark, you'll see IG Field, a football stadium in the provincial capital of Winnipeg.  Other shots will take you over downtown Winnipeg, some of the province's many farms, oilfields, and more.

EpicJib Aerial Media Demo Reel 2017

Saskatchewan is one of Canada's prairie provinces, situated between Alberta (to the west) and Manitoba (to its east).  The landscape of Saskatchewan is similar to that of the USA state of North Dakota, which lies immediately to its south.  EpicJib, one of the top drone pilots in the province, created this epic demo reel showing both the breadth of their work as well as the beauty of this province which extends from the USA border to the Northern Territories and is the only Canadian province with no natural borders.

Alberta is the Canadian province where the prairies of central Canada and the mountains of western Canada meet.  Contributor and drone pilot Myworldphoto created this short but extremely impressive video of the southern part of the province, not far from the country's southern border with the United States.  While the Canadian Rockies are visible in the background, the aerial video shows a side of Alberta such as expansive canola fields which resemble the landscape of Saskatchewan, the province to its east.

Manitoba From the Air

TannerNG...

Manitoba is the easternmost of the three so-called prairie provinces in Central Canada, sitting to the east of Alberta (which is partially prairie and partially mountainous) and Saskatchewan.  Contributor and pilot Tomtom used a DJI Phantom 4 Professional drone to capture the essence of summer in the Canadian heartland.  The video includes aerial footage of the following locations: St. Adolphe and St. Agathe,  over-water footage from Otter Falls, Eleanor Lake, and the Winnipeg River, and much more.

Moving west across Canada, the first major city of the prairie region is Winnipeg, the capital of the province of Manitoba.  The city sits at an important spot on the Red River, one of the most important waterways in North America.  Winnipeg is situated at the place where the Assiniboine River joins the Red River of the North as it flows towards Hudson's Bay.  In this video, contributor Wake-Up Matt gives us an aerial tour of some of the river bridges of this Prairie city known as the Gateway of the West.

Contributor and drone pilot Myworldphoto created this epic aerial video of the area around Waterton Lakes National Park in the Canadian province of Alberta, along the line where the Canadian Prairie turns into the Canadian Rockies.  It's in the southwestern part of the province, due south of Calgary, near the United States border.  In this part of the province, the transition occurs in a beautiful highlands area, which was turned into the country's fourth national park in the late 1800's.

Contributor Blaze used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create this 60 second aerial tour of Winnipeg, the capital and largest city of the Canadian province of Manitoba.  The video contains excellent footage of the city's two rivers (the Red River of the North and the Assiniboine) and the bridges spanning them, which form its most critical infrastructure.  The video will also show you aerial views of Investors Group Field, the $210 million home for the Canadian Football League Winnipeg Blue Bombers which was built in 2013.

Canada's western prairies are blessed with considerable windpower potential.  Canada was the #6 country worldwide in installed windpower capacity in 2017, with the largest concentrations of its turbines in the Prairie Provinces of Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.   In this video, contributor Aero Retina Optics provides us with a bird's eye view of a wind farm operation in southern Alberta, where the winds through the mountains of the west sweep over the prairies of the eastern part of the province.

The USA state of Minnesota is known informally as the Land of 10,000 Lakes.  Impressive, but less so when compared to its northern neighbor, the Canadian province of Manitoba.  The giant territory, which extends from the USA border to Hudson's Bay, is home to an astounding 100,000 lakes.  Some of these are giant, well-known bodies of water such as Lake Winnipeg, while others are virtually unknown.  For an example of the latter, check out this beautiful drone video of Rocky Lake, near Manitoba's western border, by tobikmedia.

Edmonton: Canada's #5 City

Contributor kriegersdrone used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 to create this beautiful drone video of Edmonton, Canada. The video opens with some great shots of the North Saskatchewan River, which rises in the Canadian Rockies before running through Alberta's second largest city.   You'll also get some great aerial views of Edmonton's downtown, the core of Canada's fifth largest city.  At about the :50 mark, there's a great shot of the Fairmount Hotel Macdonald; built in 1915, it's one of a series of hotels built across Canada by the Canadian National Railway.

While Canada's Prairie Provinces have a relatively short growing season, they nonetheless are highly productive.  That's due in part to the introduction of Canola (sometimes called rapeseed), an oilseed that was developed in Canada for Canadian climate and soil conditions.  In 2018, Canada produced a staggering 20 million tons of Canola, almost all of which was harvested in Alberta, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.  Here's a drone view of Canola fields in Alberta, compliments of Inspired by Inspire.

Check out this excellent drone video of an island in Lake Winnipeg in the Canadian province of Manitoba.  Matheson Island is located in a narrow portion of the giant lake, which runs along a roughly north-south axis just north of its namesake city (which is also the provincial capital).  Running over 400 km in length (a bit over 250 mi.), the lake covers an area of almost 25k square km (around 9.5k square mi.) but is relatively shallow - its average depth is only 12 meters (about 40 ft.).  It's the world's 11th-largest freshwater lake.

Nutimik Lake is about an hour and a half drive from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. The lake is located in Whiteshell Provincial Park, a popular area for camping in this Prairie province in the middle of the country. Contributor and drone pilot TannerNG takes us on an aerial trip around the park and over the lake, specifically over Sturgeon Falls, the small waterfalls you see gushing over the rocks. Canadian wildfire smoke throws a haze over the area, giving this piece an eerie yet peaceful feel.

Check out these drone views of the city of Edmonton, Alberta, compliments of new AirVuz contributor kriegersdrone.  Edmonton is the capital of Alberta, and the province's second-largest city after Calgary.  The city is situated on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River in central Alberta, on the great plain or prairie which covers the province in the area east of the Rockies.  It's center of a metropolitan area of about 1.3 million, Canada's fifth largest.  The video of the city was filmed with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone.
