Drone Videos of Patagonia

Top contributor semberadventure created this stunning 4k drone video from Chilean Patagonia.  Picked as a Finalist for DVOW, the video beautifully captures the beauty of the southern "cone" of South America, home to some of the world's most spectacular glaciers, valleys, and mountain peaks.  There's something for everyone in this production, which begins with a shot of an iconic looking glacial lake and features footage from some of the region's famous hiking trails and even some of its unique wildlife.

Contributor Where-is-Fab created this amazing drone video of one of the top hiking trails in South America.  He and a group of friends tackled the "W" circuit at the Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia.  The park is one of the larger tourist attractions in Chile, receiving about a quarter million visitors per year, many of whom are foreigners.  The stunning beauty of the area has caught the eye of filmmakers; Torres del Paine was a filming location for the 2012 action movie Wrath of the Titans.

Patagonia is a region on the southern cone of South America, shared between Argentina and Chile.  Contributor El Gringo Rojo, her two horses, and her dog embarked on a 1.6k km (1k mi) journey down the length of Argentine Patagonia.  The video includes stunning footage of the waterfalls in El Chalten, horseback riding through Bariloche, a hike to the base of the famous Fitz Roy mountain (part of the Andes chain), and more sights from this spectacularly beautiful land.  Prepare to be amazed by these views from the bottom of the earth.

Contributor and pilot nuclearcl created this stunning drone video capturing the highlights of a trip along a famed road in southern Chile.  The Austral Road (Carretera Austral), otherwise known as CH-7) runs for over 1.2k km (about 770 mi.) down the length of this very long and narrow South American country.  Its northern starting point is in Puerto Mont in the Los Lagos region (covering a mid-south portion of the country); its southern terminus is Villa O'Higgins, deep in Chilean Patagonia.  

Ushuaia, Argentina enjoys a notable distinction - it is regarded as the southernmost city in the world.  It is situated on the island of Tierra Del Fuego at the southern tip of South America, which is part of the region of Patagonia.  Top contributor Fabio Knoll created this spectacular aerial video of this city  on the Beagle Channel, a passageway between the Atlantic and Pacific that's an alternative to the comparatively well-travelled Magellan Strait on the northern side of the Tierra del Fuego.   

Contributor and pilot The World as Playground used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create this marvelous aerial video of one of the world's most unusual glaciers.  It's called the Perito Moreno glacier, and it's located on the Argentina side of Patagonia near the southern tip of South America.  The glacier is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Patagonia, and it's also of interest to scientists: whereas most of the world's glaciers are shrinking, this one is slowly but steadily growing in size.  

The complex shape of Chile's Patagonian coastline created large numbers of spectacular fjords, which are inlets created by glaciation patterns.  These natural wonders have caught the attention of cruise ship operators and travelers around the world.  Some of these travelers are also drone pilots.  Contributor Exclusive Aerials was onboard the cruise ship Crystal Serenity with a DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone when he created this magnificent video of the ship cruising this remarkably beautiful area on its southern Pacific coast.

Among the many attractions of South America's Patagonia region are some of the world's best spots for whale watching.  Seasonal migration patterns result in many species of whales moving in large numbers past the coasts of southern Chile and Argentina near the southern tip of the continent.  In this video, contributor and pilot Jonathanwyn used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to film Southern Right Whales off the coast of Argentina during the winter months when they move away from the waters of Antarctica.

Take in these outstanding drone views from Patagonian (southern) Argentina, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Gustavo Quiroga.  The video was filmed in the province of Neuquén, the northernmost of the provinces which make up the Argentine side of Patagonia, the region which covers the southern tip of South America.  The specific areas filmed are between the towns of Aluminé and San Martín de los Andes, both of which lie in the western part of the province, on the eastern slopes of the High Andes Mountains.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, new contributor Vivez drone brings us this drone video from southern Argentina.  The video was filmed over the province of Chubut, one of the five which make up Patagonian Argentina (the region of Patagonia also includes the Chilean provinces at similar latitudes).  Chubut's territory is defined by the 42nd and 46th southern parallels, bordering the provinces of Rio Negro and Santa Cruz, respectively.   The video includes footage both from the Chubut coastline as well as its extensive interior.  

Check out this amazing drone video of the largest freshwater lake in the South American country of Argentina.  Argentino Lake is located in the state of Santa Cruz, which is part of the Patagonia region in the southern part of the country.  The lake covers over 1.6k square km (about 550 square mi.) and is quite deep - about 500 meters (approximately 1.6k ft.) at its deepest point.  Contributor Let's Fly Production used a drone to create this beautiful video of the great lake and neighboring city of El Calafate. 

Contributor and drone pilot Wrenee, aka the Queen of the Dronie, brings her trademark pullout dronie shot to the Patagonia region of southern Argentina, in the southern cone of South America.  The spot is the Leona River, which flows through Los Glacieres National Park near the border with Chile.  The river is fed by La Glacieres, the giant icecap which enjoys the distinction of being the largest glacier in the world outside of the polar icecaps.  The river flows into Lake Argentino, the country's largest freshwater lake. 

Contributor Hector Espinosa created this epic video of two well known spots in Patagonia, the region in the cone of South America which is shared by Argentina and Chile.  The first area shown is that around Los Glaciares National Park near Calafate, in the southwestern corner of Argentina.   The park is home to a portion of the Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the region's top attractions.  The second part of the video is from the nearby Torres del Paine National Park in Chile, another haven for glacier-lovers.

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor Aleksandr Iskander brings us this stunning first person view (FPV) drone video shot during a trip to southern (Patagonian) Chile.  The video opens with a series of shot from the Pacific Ocean coastline, which (in the southern regions) is dotted with countless islands and channels.  Further on in the video, you'll be treated to some shots from the Andes Mountains, which run the country's length and in southern Chile run right up to the coast. 

Take in these magnificent drone views of southern Argentina, compliments of brand-new contributor agustristant.  The video was filmed near the city of San Carlos de Bariloche in Río Negro, one of the main provinces of Patagonian Argentina.  Located in the western part of the country, just over the Andes Mountains from Chile, this area is crossed by a series of lakes created by glacial runoff from the mighty peaks to the west.  In the video, you'll see Nahuel Huapi Lake (the largest of these lakes) as well as Verde and Guillelmo Lakes.
