Check out this spectacular video of one of Indonesia's most famous volcanoes in a state of eruption, compliments of top AirVuz contributor and pilot diamondsky.  Mt. Bromo is the centerpiece of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park in East Java.  The mountain, which occupies an important place in Hindu culture, has a peak elevation of about 2.3k meters or around 9.1k ft. above sea level.  This video earned a nomination in the landscape category at the 6th Annual New York City Drone Film Festival.

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot Woodbird used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone to create this stunning piece from the Southeast Asian archipelago nation.  The video opens with a shot of some mist-covered rice terraces on the island of Flores, one of the main islands of the East Nusa Tenggara Region.  The rest of the footage is from Java, the country's most populous island.  Here you'll be treated to views of dark rainforests, volcanic calderas, and the Tumpak Sewu Waterfall, one of the country's most famous.

Top contributor and drone pilot used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create this epic aerial view of the central part of Java in Indonesia.  While the island is by far the most heavily populated in Indonesia, most of its people live on its eastern and western ends, in and around the large cities.  The central part of the island is much less heavily populated and has retained more of the traditional Javanese cultural elements.  Most of this video was filmed in the Yogyakarta region and on the Dieng Plateau.

AirVuz contributor and pilot kerehore brings us this stunning drone video of a magnificent-looking beach in a remote area of Java, Indonesia.  It's called Pangasan Beach, and it's part of the town of Pacitan.  The town and beach lie on a bay on the southern part of the island in East Java, the province which covers roughly the eastern third of Java.  While Java is Indonesia's (and indeed the world's) most populous island, this area is a world away from the teeming streets of Jakarta, Bandung, and Surabaya.

AirVuz contributor and pilot yuri parinduri brings us this excellent drone video from a waterfall park on the Indonesian island of Java.  It's called the Ciletuh-Palabuhanratu Geopark, and it's located in the province of West Java, on the opposite (southern) side of the island from Jakarta and about four hours west of the city of Bandung.  With numerous waterfalls, beaches, and baths, the park is part of the UNESCO Geoparks Network.  Its name derives from the Ciletuh River and the bay (and town) of Palabuhanratu.

Check out this DVOW nominatied video of the easternmost tip of Java, Indonesia, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot elmandakrisna.   The regency (essentially, state or province) of Banyuwangi occupies the eastern end of the southernmost of the two "forks" of eastern Java.   The largest of Java's regencies by land area, Banyuwangi has a long southern coastline on the Indian Ocean and a somewhat shorter eastern coastline on the Strait of Bali, across which lies the strait's namesakle island.  Like much of Java, Banyuwangi's interior is mountainous.

Take in these magnificent aerial views of the Kawa Ijen volcanic complex on the Indonesian island of Java, compliments of AirVuz contributor Chitchai Sripirom.  The volcano is famous for its highly distinctive-looking blue colored fire in one of its craters, which is due to the presence of sulfur.  Located near the eastern tip of the country's (and indeed the world's) most populous island, the highly acidic crater lake is about .6 miles wide (about one km) and is considered the largest lake of its type in the world.

Bromo volcano, one of the country's top attractions.  The mountain is part of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park in East Java, on the country's most populous island.  The mountain, which has a peak elevation of about just over 2.3k meters above sea level (about 7.6k ft.), has been in a state of near-eruption for much of the past few years.  This video was a DVOW nominee in June 2019

The capital of the province of West Java, Bandung is the country's fourth largest city (after Jakarta, Surabaya, and Bekasi) and the center of its third-largest metropolitan area.  Situated in a river valley and surrounded by mountains, Bandung's elevation of 770 meters above sea level (around 2.5k ft.) provides it with cooler climate compared to the country's other large cities.

Many of Indonesia's volcanoes pose spectacular hiking opportunities.  With modest elevations generally under 3k meters (around 10k ft.), hiking to the tops of these "peaks" can yield spectacular views into their craters.  In this video, contributor DroneCult aerially filmed amazing hiking trips to Mt. Bromo and Ijen Crater, both of which are in East Java (the province which lies at the eastern end of the island of Java).  The latter of the two volcanoes is taller, with an elevation of about 2.8k (9.2k ft) above sea level.

Top AirVuz contributor and two-time Drone Video of the Week Finalist DiamondSky put together this fantastic piece from one of Indonesia's most famous waterfalls.  Tumpak Sewu Waterfalls is located on the border between two regencies of the province of East Java.  The tiered waterfall is located below Mount Semeru, Java's highest volcano.  Fed by the Glidik River, the waterfall's name loosely translates to "a thousand waterfalls"; when you see the video, you will understand why this name is appropriate.

Bromo, an active volcano in East Java, Indonesia.  Named after a Hindu god, the volcano is part of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park, which covers an eastern section of Indonesia's most populous island.  The volcano has been in a state of eruption or near-eruption during much of the 21st century thus far, leading to numerous warnings and advisories.  Nevertheless, it continues to be one of the biggest tourist attractions in Java.

AirVuz contributor and pilot ariotrihantoro brings us this excellent drone video of Indonesia's Borobudur complex, home of the world's largest Buddhist temple.  Built in the 9th century, Borobudur is located in the Magelang Regency, near the middle of the island of Java.  Constructed in the 9th century, the temple was abandoned for centuries beginning in the 1400's while much of modern-day Indonesia shifted to Islam.  Distinguished by its massive dome and the 70 Buddha statues which surround it, the temple is a  UNESCO World Heritage site.

Of Indonesia's many active volcanoes, the most active (and potentially the most dangerous) is Mt. Merapi.  It is situated near the middle of the island of Java, on the border between the provinces of Central Java and Yogyakarta.  With a peak elevation of just under 3k meters above sea level (around 9.7k ft.), the volcano has been erupting regularly for over 400 years.  As of 2019, it's one of 16 Decade Volcanoes thought to be the world's most dangerous.  You can check it out from a bird's eye in this drone video by drone_ulun.

Contributor and drone pilot r_prayugo used a DJI Phantom 3 drone to create this beautiful aerial view of the area around Bandung in West Java, Indonesia.  Bandung is the third-largest city in this giant Southeast Asian archipelago, after the capital Jakarta (also on the western side of Java) and Surabaya (on the opposite end of the island).  The city of Bandung is situated in a valley surrounded by various volcanic-origin mountains.  The video is shot primarily in the hilly area around the city.

Indonesia's Mount Sundoro goes by several names: Sindara, Sindoro, or Sundoro. It is an active stratovolcano, meaning that it's been built up by many layers of hardened lava, tephra, pumice, and ash. Mount Sundoro is located in Central Java, one of the regions of Indonesia's most populous islands.  The volcano has had mostly mild-to-moderate eruptions in the past. Contributor Philedrone created this magnificent aerial video of a well known Hindu temple in Indonesia.  The Prambaban Temple is situated in what is now the special region of  Yogyakarta, near the center of the island of Java.  Built in the 9th century, it's the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia and one of the largest in the world.  While Indonesia is predominantly Muslim, it does have a rather substantial Hindu minority which is estimated to number about 4 million, most of whom live on the island of Bali.

Domchoong created an amazing aerial look at two of Indonesia's greatest geological marvels.  Mt. Bromo is the highest volcano in a group of mountains known as the Tengger range of East Java.  It's a very active mountain, and warnings are periodically issued during times of high eruption risk.  Ijen is a well known crater, located to the east of Bromo near the very eastern end of Indonesia's most populous island.  For reasons which will be clear once you see the video, it's known as the Blue Fire Crater.

Check out this amazing drone video of Mount Papandayan on the island of Java in Indonesia.  It's a stratovolcano located southeast of Bandung, the capital of the West Java region and the third largest city of Indonesia.  Papandayan's peak has an elevation of just under 2.7k meters 9about 8.7k ft.), making it one of the taller volcanoes on Java.  The volcano had erupted catastrophically in 1772, killing thousands.  After remaining quiet for over two centuries, it's been active again early in the 21st century.

Contributor Teguh Setiawan used a DJI Phantom 3 drone to create this spectacular aerial video of a geological phenomenon on the island of Java in Indonesia.  Bleduk Kuwu is a mud volcano in the Grobogan Regency of Central Java, one of the main provinces of the country's most populous island.  The eruptions of salt-filled mud (which is used to make salt for consumption) occur roughly every 2-3 minutes, and are a major tourist attraction in the area.  According to local legend, the crater in the volcano leads to the Indian Ocean.

Contributor aqwamhm created this beautiful aerial video of Mt. Ciremai, the highest mountain in the western part of Java, Indonesia.  The highly symmetrical volcano has a peak elevation of just under 3.1k meters above sea level, or about 10.1k ft.  It's situated in the province of West Java, southeast of Jakarta.  Mt. Ciremai is generally quiet but is still considered an active volcano.  The mountain is a popular climbing/hiking spot; reaching the peak requires about 12 hours, round trip.

Mount Salak (Gung Salak) is one of the more unusual of the many volcanoes on the island of Java, Indonesia.  Due to the pattern of eruption and erosion, the West Java stratovolcano has two craters at its summit plus several "satellite" cones on one of its sides.  It last erupted in the 1930's, and in more recent years it's been studied for a possible geothermal power project.  Contributor sureshnc created this drone video from atop the mountains, which roughly translates to "Silver Mountain".

Since the semi-eruption of late 2015, it's generally not possible to descend into the calera of Mt. Bromo, which isn't the tallest of Indonesia's many volcanoes but probably its most famous.  This drone video by jasonmklean will put you right over the smoking crater.  The great volcano has significant cultural significance on Java and is named after the Hindu God Brahma.  Since the early 2000's, it's had numerous mini-eruptions, including one in 2004 in which two people were killed by a small explosion.

With its giant volcanoes and rainforests, it's not surprising that the East Java region of Indonesia is home to some of the world's most amazing waterfalls.  Probably the most famous of these falls is the Tumpak Sewu Waterfalls.  Seen in this outstanding drone video by new AirVuz contributor alfonstaekema, the waterfall is located on the border between the Malang and Lumajang Regencies.  The tiered waterfall is fed by runoff from Mt. Semeru, Java's highest mountain.

Check out this drone video of Indonesia's Mt. Merbabu volcano, compliments of aqwahm.  Now dormant, it is situated in the region of Central Java on Indonesia's most populous island.  The mountain has two peaks, the highest of which is just over 3.1k meters or around 10.3k ft. above sea level.  The volcano's last known eruption occurred in 1797.  Merbabu is adjacent to Mt. Merapi which lies to its southeast; the very active Merapi is considered Indonesia's most dangerous volcano.

In this drone video by aqwamhm, you'll be treated to aerial views of three volcanoes in the Central Java region of Indonesia's most populous island.  The first is Mount Sindoro, considered dormant, with a peak elevation of about 3.1k meters or around 10.3k ft. The second is Mount Sumbing, which is about 200 meters or 660 ft. taller and last erupted in 1730.  The last stop is Mount Slamet; it's the tallest of the three at 3.4k meters or 11.4k ft. and is considered active, having erupted most recently in 2014.

Check out this drone video from a beautiful spot from the Indonesian island of Java.  It was filmed around a beach called Pantai Ngudel, in the East Java province of the country's (indeed, the world's) most populous island.  It's situated on the southern side of the island on the Indian Ocean, more or less opposite the city of Surabaya on the northern side.  Filmed with a DJI Mavic Pro 2, the video captures the idyllic tropical scene, complete with a campground and a giant offshore rock formation.

AirVuz contributor and pilot restukangtahu brings us this excellent 4k drone video of the Indonesia's Pasupati Bridge, one of the modern marvels of this giant Southeast Asian country.  Opened in 2005, the bridge crosses a valley in Bandung, the capital of the province of West Java and one of Indonesia's largest cities.  With a total length of 2.8 km (around 1.7 mi.), the bridge employs a complex design to protect it from the ever-present risk of earthquakes in this geologically active region.

While Java is the most populous island in Indonesia (and indeed the world), the vast majority of its 140+ million inhabitants (as of 2019) live in or around its major urban centers.  Much of the island's nearly 140k square km of land area (around 53k square mi.) is quite sparsely populated.  In this drone video by kerehore, you'll get a bird's eye view of a remote beach area in Bentang Mati.  It's located on a virtually unpopulated stretch of coastline along the southern coast of East Java, near the town of Blitar.

Here's an excellent drone video of a stunning but virtually unknown waterfall on the Indonesian island of Java, compliments of AirVuz contributor Kerehore.  It's called the Umbul Waru Waterfall, and it's situated on the southern coastline of the province of East Java.  Unusually, the waterfall flows directly into the sea, with a drop of about 30 meters (around 100 ft.) into the Indian Ocean.  It's located in Sidomulyo Village in the province's Blitar Regency, on one of the island's most remote stretches of coastline.

For a second upload to AirVuz, contributor and drone pilot elmandakrisna brings us this beautiful aerial video from a well-known lake on the Indonesian island of Java.  It's called Patenggang Lake, and it's located southwest of the city of Bandung (Indonesia's #4 city as of 2019) in the province of West Java.  Covering a surface area of around 450 square km or around 170 square mi., it's one of the largest lakes on the world's most populous island.  It sits at an altitude of about 1.6k meters above sea level or around 5.2k ft.

Semuru, the tallest mountain on the island of Java.  Located on the boundary between two regencies of East Java, the waterfall's name translates roughly to "a thousand waterfalls" in reference to its appearance as multiple falls rather than a single waterfall.  Tumpak Sewu is primarily fed by the Glidik River.

Contributor Mavicgrapher used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create this amazing aerial video of downtown Jakarta, Indonesia.  Like many large cities in Southeast Asia (and indeed the world), the Indonesian capital city has seen a boom in skyscraper construction in recent decades.  As of 2018, there were over 50 buildings in the city of over 200 meters (about 650 ft.) in height, almost all of which are less than ten years old.  In this video, you will see this skyline up close, both during the day and at night.

Take a tour of one of the marvels of modern Indonesia in this outstanding first person view (FPV) drone "fly-through" of the Great Mosque of Central Java by contributor yuri parinduri.  Dedicated in 2006, the mosque is located in the city of Semarang, capital of the province o Central Java.  Sitting on a site of 25 acres (10 hectares), the complex consists of three buildings arranged in the shape of a "U".  The central prayer area, located between the library and auditorium which form the arms of the "U", can hold up to 15k worshippers.

Also known as Coban Sewu, the tiered waterfall of Tumpak Sewu is located between the Pronojiwo District, Lumajana Regency and the Ampelgading District, Malang Regency in East Java, Indonesia. The highly-visited tourist location loosely translates to “a thousand waterfalls” and is fed by glacial runoff that forms the Glidik River. Sjoerdbracke does a lovely job capturing its beauty in this Tumpak Sewu drone video; watch it and you'll understand where its name comes from.
