Long Range FPV

When you've got a flying buddy like @carterfilmz and a setting like Goblin Valley State Park in Utah as your playground, you're going to do what drone pilot nikofilmz did: take in an epic air-to-air chase that reminds us all of some Star Wars podracing through Tatooine.  Watch this fun product of their racing quads as these two pilots chase each other around the otherworldly setting. The long range flights made for some sweet footage, and since nikofilmz shared it, we added him as an FPV Pilot to Watch on AirVuz in April 2020. 

Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot Gav707 can make a credible claim to have invented the genre of cinematic FPV mountain surfing, in which long range FPV gear is used to capture some of the world's most spectacular alpine scenery.  This incredible video is a prime examples of his pioneering work in this area is this piece, which included some very skillful post-production stabilization editing.  This video was picked as the Winner in the Freestyle Flow category at the second annual Drone Video Awards.  

Top contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot vasiliz lights up the Pyrenees Mountains region with this highly cinematic FPV piece.  He uses his tremendously smooth flying skills to his advantage in this piece as he takes us over the snow-capped trees, diving down the mountains and through an empty chair lift.  Demonstrating the power of cinematic FPV to give us a new perspective of our world, this video was picked as a Finalist at the second Annual Drone Video Awards for FPV Freestyle Flow. 

Located on the Isle of Skye in Scotland, the Quiraing is a landslip on the eastern face of Meall na Suiramach, which is the northern most summit of the Trotternish. A landslip is the sliding mass of land that runs down a slope or cliff. If you’re still not sure what that might look like, check out this first person view (FPV) video by pilot ARI3S FPV. The unusual location of Quiraing led to its selection as a primary ilming location for the 1996 movie adaptation of Shakespeare's great play MacBeth.  

You have to give this cinematic flight through the countryside a watch. Brought to us by FPV pilot Yoba, it is a long range journey through the mountains, forests, and rivers around him. The high definition footage bring crisp lines and edges to all of the boulders he’ll pass by, and a dynamic, intensity to the gushing waterfalls he’s captured at stunningly close range. He’ll also do a marvelous job hitting small gaps through fell trees while traveling up a river.  That's why this was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in January, 2020.

Flowing across the northwestern part of New Brunswick and the southeastern part of Quebec in Canada, the Restigouche River can be seen in the peak of autumn colors in this drone video by pilot LevesqueFPV. The specific point in the 200 kilometer (120 mile) river that we’re viewing is the Brandy Brook in Quebec. The highly cinematic long-range FPV flight allows us to see the golds and greens up close while also viewing the winding river from afar.  This video made the FPV Pilots to Watch list in October, 2019. 

Oeschinen Lake is located in the Bernese Oberland, Switzerland. Its elevation is 1,578 meters (5,177 feet) and it has a max depth of 56 meters (184 feet). The lake is fed through various creeks and streams along the mountain and drains underground until it his Oeschibach where part of it is captured then generated for hydro-electric power. FPV pilot nik.scherer takes us to the glacial lake in the Swiss Alps in this long range FPV video, which earned him a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in October, 2019.

We've all seen the relaxing, sweeping flights over the tree tops and along the mountain ridges, but when drone pilot swiftfpv geared up his racing quad to make this epic flight, he didn't hold anything back.  Cruising along the scenic vertical limits found in the Swiss Alps (near the border with Liechtenstein), he also dives down the cliffs and minds the rocky gaps, never slowing in his high-speed maneuvers.  It was a breathtaking flight, indeed, and it placed him on our FPV Pilots to Watch list in February 2020.

Flying through the Great Plains of South Dakota, AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot Stephen Peot explores the Bear Butte, which he justly refers to as an "FPV paradise"!  Using a long-range FPV setup, he's able to venture out several km/miles from his launching point, riding the jagged ridges of the geological landmark with ease.  It's a great example of the power of reliable long-range FPV equipment to give skilled FPV pilots a means to explore very large areas with their racing quads.  

The Italian Alps are breathtaking any time of year, but the wintry layer of snow and ice provide a defining edge that perfectly suits a long range FPV flight. Pilot L Morandini took advantage of the wide open playground and got his racing drone in the air to dance around those frozen water falls and rocky peaks, and the final edit is unreal. Be sure to take this full length video in on your own, and you'll see why this talented pilot, in February 2020, made his repeat appearance on our FPV Pilots to Watch list.  Bravo, L. Morandini!

This cinematic flight through the mountains, the trees, and the ravines is so impressive. FPV Pilot J-TRUE FPV gets some absolutely remarkable footage, flying as tight as possible to the rock face, rapidly flowing streams, and pine trees. Halfway through the piece is a medley of mountain dives followed by a video-game-like tour through some abandoned, structures and bridges. It's a cinematic flight that you'll be inspired by and certainly won't forget, and it earned a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in August, 2019.

AirVuz contributor and first-person-view (FPV) pilot Menga FPV pushes his skills and battery to the limit in order to reach the icy peak in this awesome long-range flight.  Throughout this freestyle session, he rushes over surprisingly diverse terrains in this one path.  From a flower-filled meadow to moss-covered crags, and then finally the snow-covered glacier at the finish.  Miraculously, he was able to return to home safely, having drained his 4 cell LIPO's down to a perilously-low 12 volts.  

For a quick journey up Space Mountain, you need only soak up the fantastic FPV goodness found in this drone video by pilot Orbi_fpv.  He uses the always stunning Swiss Alps as his setting for some unbelievable long range mountain surfing, and we're telling you the footage is so incredible it stands on its own, without the need for an audio track.  We watched this freestyle masterpiece on a loop and decided this guy had a one-way ticket to our FPV Pilots to Watch List in April 2020.  Bravo on this cinematic gem, Orbi_fpv.

This long range, mountain surfing flight by FPV pilot KerniFPV is cinematic and full of beauty. That is, until you get to about the two-minute mark. Our pilot loses signal and crashes almost immediately; the crash was made all the worse because KerniFPV had no idea where his quad was. After three days of searching, he finally found it, miraculously, in pretty good condition. It could have turned out much worse and our drone pilot can easily say, ‘lesson learned!’  This video made the FPV Pilots to Watch list in May of 2019.

This was just one of those moments where everything clicked for pilot Gab707. A perfect location he’d never flown that just worked for the professional pilot as soon as he powered up. The tree proximity work in this piece is absolutely insane. You almost forget to appreciate it because of how silky smooth his flight and lines are. Give it a watch, any Star Wars fan will feel like they’re taking a ride through the trees at Battle of Endor.  This was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in July of 2019.

Be ready to take in an all around great edit in this long-range cinematic FPV flight from FPV pilot KristianFPV.  Outside of his Barcelona, Spain homebase, he found this picturesque spot of an old stone home built onto an island on a small lake. Using three different GoPros, ReelSteady Go and of course his flying skills, Kristian_FPV pulled out all of the stops to show just how smooth he could be, and we watched this creative edit for ourselves, we knew we just had to add him to our FPV Pilots to Watch list in March 2020.

You'll get an entirely new perspective of the volcanic Mt. Etna on the Italian island of Sicily with this amazing first person view (FPV) video by Livyu FPV.  With an elevation of about 3.3k meters above sea level (about 11k ft.), Mount Etna is the highest peak in Italy south of the Alps; it was added to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites list in 2013.  In the video, the pilot uses long-range video and RC transmission to take on this fearsome monster with a racing drone, earning a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in August, 2019.

The mountains and fjords of Northern Norway made a perfect canvas for AirVuz contributor bjarnerimi fpv to use for this epic and highly cinematic long-range first person view (FPV) video.  Part of Nordland County (the southernmost of the three counties of the official Northern Norway region), this area of stunning natural scenery is brought to life from an entirely new perspective with his MB Epic 262 configured for long-range flight.  This video earned a spot on the AirVuz FPV Pilots to Watch list in May of 2020.  

One of the amazing things about reliable long-range first person view (FPV) drones is the way in which skilled pilots can reach spots that may be kilometers/miles away from their launching points.  Take this piece by AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot Verjan FPV, filmed in the fiery red canyons of Moab, Utah.  Reaching spots that are literally impossible to reach in person, his long-range session in this stunningly beautiful natural environment will have you thinking he's taken his racing quad all the way to Mars and back.  

The Dolomites Mountain Range in northeastern Italy is an aerial cinematographer's dream. Putting a contemporary twist on the average video, AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot Davide FPV uses his mini quad to capture the beauty of the range. This video of twists and turns, power loops, barrel rolls and more makes the viewer feel like they're in a twisted version of the Sound of Music.   For his efforts, our talented content creator won a spot on the AirVuz FPV Pilots to Watch list in November, 2018.

Sometimes the most inconvenient and unknown destinations can create the most memorable videos. The trip FPV pilot KerniFPV took was turned upside down when the weather would not cooperate, sending only rain and clouds when all they needed was a few hours of sun. However, the dense fog covering the mountains and littering the forest floor makes for a really cool, eerie piece. The air-to-air, tracking action just adds to the overall feeling of being followed into the unknown.  This was an FPV Pilots to Watch list pick for August, 2019.  

You will get an entirely new perspective on some legendary mountains of Colorado, compliments of AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot Ver Jan FPV.  He go WAY out there to make this highly cinematic gem, which was shot near the famed ski resort of Telluride.  He hit it just right in terms of Fall colors, and shows some outstanding piloting skills skimming over the brightly colored treetops.  Part of what makes it so mesmerizing is that the scenery doesn't repeat he just keeps going....

All we can say is, “wow.” The location that AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot Cst FPV found for this latest flight is absolutely phenomenal. From the greenish, gray tint of the rocky cliffs to the jagged rocks of the mountain themselves, the clouds that drift across the frame and cling to the land and the opaque lighting that hits the camera, it is all perfect for FPV. Add a skilled pilot, some music, a little editing, and it's no surprise that this was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in July, 2019.

Taking us on a wicked awesome ride through the Italian Alps is talented AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot L. Morandini. In this epic video, which was tapped for the AirVuz FPV Pilots to Watch list in November of 2019, he’ll show us just how powdery fresh the Alps can be after the season’s first snow. It's scenes like this which have created one of the world's strongest skiing scenes, and which has been the birthplace of the emerging branch of cinematic FPV flight known as FPV mountain surfing. 

When one of the world's top first person view (FPV) pilots spends two days in Austria wit his long-range FPV setup, you can be pretty confident the result is going to be pretty epic.  When you see this amazing piece by the legendary JohnnyFPV, your expectations will be fully confirmed.  The pilot who arguably invented the art of cinematic FPV will take you on a mountain surfing trip over the Australian Alps that will absolutely blow you away.  Watch as he takes his quad miles/km out over some of the world's most beautiful alpine scenery. 

Check out this highly cinematic long-range first person view (FPV) drone video from the desert of western Colorado, compliments of AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot WestPsydeFPV.  The video was filmed around Grand Junction, which lies on the western slope of the Rockies, near the border with Utah.  This area of high desert is known in part for its spectacular ridges and rock formations.  The pilot's long-range setup allows him to cruise these stunningly beautiful geological features with seeming ease.  

Nurk goes on a long range FPV adventure with his wife and fellow DRL racers up in the Swiss Alps mountain range in this drone VLOG. First, they hike up the trails of the scenic mountain peaks and once they settle on a good spot to hook up the googles, he starts cruising the jagged ridges and dives downward toward the valley below.  Is there really any better way to make the most of those incredible vistas, pristinely fresh air, and time with the coolest bunch of people?  We think not...

Gab707 is one of the top first person view (FPV) pilots on earth.  He's participated in multiple seasons of the Drone Racing League, and his long-range FPV mountain surfing videos from the Swiss Alps are the stuff of FPV legend.  In this video, he tackles one of the world's most famous canyons: Waimea Canyon in Hawaii, sometimes known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific.  Situated on the western side of the island of Kauai, the stunningly beautiful canyon has a maximum depth of about 900 meters, or around 3k ft. 

This mountain surfing video is straight out of any first person view (FPV) drone pilot’s wildest dreams. A set of stunning locations in three countries in the Alps, a professional level cinematic set up, and liquid smooth runs landed this flight by KoryFPV on our AirVuz FPV Pilots to Watch list in September of 2019. The film features the great mountain ranges in Slovenia, Austria and Italy taking us over the snow-covered peaks, down the rock faces to the glacial lakes, and across the foliage covered bases of the formidable mountains. 

Really good long-range flying is not as easy as these guys make it look and we're not just talking on the sticks. Oftentimes there are mile-long hikes through the elements involved in order to get the best, most cinematic shots. Hikes like the one JZFPV says he took to create this piece. He says "Utah never disappoints," we say neither does JZFPV. Speed, flow, accuracy, and perfect shot-framing make this flight and edit one for the books. This was an FPV Pilot to Watch video in January of 2019.

The art of mountain surfing is when a first-person-view pilot takes their customized mini quad out to the mountains and flies in as smooth a fashion and as close to the terrain as possible. The pilot tries to surf the mountain side like a surfer takes on a wave.  In this piece, FPV pilot Ferdigrapher took his long range rig out to the Germany's Bavarian Alps for this mountain surfing flight, featuring both nature and a man-made building on top of the peaks.  This was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in August, 2019.

To see the possibilities inherent in long range first person view (FPV) drone flight, look no further than contributor and FPV pilot beeb FPV.  He mounted a GoPro Hero 7 HD camera to a racing quadcopter and conquered nothing less than the mighty Matterhorn mountain in the Swiss Alps.  In four minutes, he was able to reach the famously symmetrical peak, which stands almost 4.5k meters (about 14.7k ft.) above sea level.  That left enough battery power to safely return the drone and its fantastic footage.  

Check out this stunning compilation of first person view (FPV) footage from Norway, compliments of AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot fure_fpv.  Shot with a long-range setup, the video features some absolutely incredible footage surfing the mountain ridges of this Scandinavian country.  Extremely cinematic, he pushes his flying skills to the limits navigating the spectacular natural scenery that abounds here, at times flying very far from "home".  This video was picked for the AirVuz FPV Pilots to Watch list in September, 2020.  

Flying his first person view (FPV) racing drone out over the mountains of Switzerland, AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot doclate says this was one of his best sessions of the summer. The Swiss Alps are, undoubtedly, one of the greatest locations in Europe to take a mini quad out to mountain surf. It’s easy to see why he loved this run because of the smooth ride coupled with the lines he’s running and dives he’s taking in this video, which made the FPV Pilots to Watch list in March, 2020.  

You've probably seen numerous drone videos of the Swiss Alps, but there's a good chance you've never seen them from the standpoint of a long-range first person view (FPV) mini quad. In this video, you'll see just that, and from the hands of world-reknowned FPV racing pilot Gab707. The Drone Racing League pro pilot put together this graceful long-range cruising video, using an HD camera mounted to his racing quad to provide a one-of-a-kind view of these stunning alpine peaks in the heart of Central Europe.

This long-range first person view (FPV) drone flight is absolutely stunning. Shot by AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot COLA, the video will take us through the tops of the mountain as the golden hour sun sets with clouds floating beneath his quad. He’ll then move on to snowier mountains, skimming close to the rocky ledges and barreling down the sides of the cliffs. It is an incredibly scenic flight compilation, reminiscent of the opening scene in the second Lord of the Rings trilogy film. 

One of the best ways to demonstrate the power of long-range first person view (FPV) mini quads is by flying long distances over water.  In these circumstances, failure almost certainly equals loss of quad, and it provides a great test of FPV piloting mettle - the pilot must continue asking themselves, "how far can I go" knowing that every meter/foot further away from home base increases the risk that he/she won't make it back.  Keep this in mind as you watch this epic long-range, over-water FPV piece by AirVuz contributor ShinyFPV. 

AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot tamtantrik used a long-range setup to bring us this fantastic FPV mini-tour of the Black Sea region of northern Turkey.  The region stretches from east of Istanbul to the Georgia border, along the southern coast of the Black Sea.  With a range of mountains that sit just south of the coast, the region offers some of the country's most spectacular natural scenery.  Highly cinematic, this video earned our content creator a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in August, 2020.

Long-range first person view (FPV) equipment lets skilled FPV pilots go km/mi from their launch point with considerable reliability.  Usually pilots take advantage of their extended range by extending their flight distances horizontally, but it works in the vertical direction too.  That's what top AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot Livyu FPV did in this stunning piece.  He says he wanted to "reach the clouds and float with them in the sky", and that's exactly what he did; the result is mesmerizing.  

Experience the beauty of Norway's famous Lofoten Islands from an entirely new perspective - from the camera of a first person view (FPV) racing drone. Top AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot PimpmyKwad put together this masterpiece, which was filmed near the town of Svolvær.  It's on the island of Austvågøy, the northeasternmost of the main islands in the archipelago.  The beauty shows off the spectacular natural beauty of the area through the lens of some highly cinematic long-range FPV flight.  

Long-range first person view (FPV) drone flight has been a game-changer for FPV pilot-content creators who are fortunate to fly in wide open spaces like mountain ranges.  Being able to go out several km/mi and return safely allows these pilots to reach places that might not even be accessible, and it also allows for very long single-take footage.  This excellent piece by AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot mactacfpv is a great example of this phenonemon; it was filmed flying over the mountains of British Columbia in Western Canada.  

While there's no universally agreed-upon definition of "Cinematic FPV", we know it when we see it.  And we definitely see it in this stunning coastal cruising piece by top AirVuz contributor PimpmyKwad.  Filmed at sunset, this is FPV flight optimized for the viewing experience, which is the essence of cinematic FPV.  His silky-smooth flight takes him way out over the water to a number of mini-islands, approaching each one for maximum cinematic effect.  The flight demonstrates precise control but at the same time is almost hypnotic.

Sometimes referred to as the Grand Canyon of Europe, the Verdon Gorge is a river canyon in southeastern France. Named after the river that carved it over thousands of years, it is known for its white-water rapids and cliffs, excellent hiking paths, and the national parks around it. AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot Drone My Life takes us to the incredible location in this travel FPV film. He’ll dive the sheer rock cliffs then float his way down the river with such technique and ease. 

AirVuz contributor and pilot haussmannvisuals continues to impress with his transition to flying first person view (FPV) mini-quads.  In this piece, he takes us out on a long-range cruise over the Engadin, an alpine valley in the Swiss Alps.  The valley follows the course of the River Inn and is located in the southeastern part of the country, in the canton of Grisons (Graubünden) and extends into neighboring Austria.  This video was picked as a Finalist for the Drone Video of the Week contest in November, 2021.  

There aren’t many places in the world that garner views quite as stunning as those captured around the Italian Dolomites. The sheer cliffs, deep valleys, and incredible range of the mountains make quite the setting for pilots to fly over. We love this first person view (FPV) flight by AirVuz contributor and pilot AurelFPV. Shot on a perfect day that was filled with low-lying clouds, autumn colors, and a light pink sunrise, the piece moves quickly due to those visuals plus the pilot’s dynamic flying skills. 

Long-range FPV mountain surfing is risky business.  A minor piloting mistake which causes a mini-drone to crash on a mountain ridge or glacier is almost certain to lead to an irrecoverable loss.  Even seemingly minor events - an unexpected drop in voltage, an unbalanced propeller, a minor shift in winds - can easily cause a mini-quad to run out of battery power before reaching home.   Unfortunately, top contributor and FPV pilot Cst FPV lost his drone flying in the Alps; this was the last footage taken before the quad met its demise.

Long-range first person view (FPV) flight requires good navigation skills - FPV drones generally don't have a "return to home" function.  That's part of what makes this FPV piece by AirVuz contributor WestPsydeFPV so impressive.  He took his mini-drone into the wilderness of Colorado when the area was facing drastically reduced visibility due to a giant forest fire near Grand Junction.  As the title suggests; the footage is indeed other-worldly.  For his efforts, he was awarded with a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in August, 2020.

Check out this fantastic first-person view (FPV) mountain surfing piece from the mountains of France, compliments of former Drone Video Award winner Tomz FPV.  He was able to get some incredibly smooth footage out of his long-range Crossfire TBS setup over the Vercors Mountains.  The Vercors is a series of mountains and plateaus situated across the Isère and Drôme departments in the French Prealps, the "foothills" chain west of the Dauphine Alps.  The Vercors have elevations up to about 2.3k meters above sea level or around 7.7k ft.  

You’ll feel like you’re viewing the mountains from the back of an eagle in this cinematic long-range first person view (FPV) flight by AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot doclate. He’s soaring through the endless range, capturing plenty of snow and deciduous trees still filled with green on the mountains. You can see more flights like this in our Long Range FPV collection. This cinematic merits of this epic video was enough to put our talented content creator on our AirVuz FPV Pilots to Watch list in November of 2019. 

While Norway is likely one of the most-droned countries, the vast majority of the aerial footage captured here is on gimbal-stabilized aerial videography platforms like the DJI Mavic series.  Far less common is a very different type of aerial footage: that from first person view (FPV) mini-drones.  Case in point is this FPV piece from OMJ FPV, whose highly cinematic footage from the area around Lake Lovatnet in Vestland County in Western Norway earned him a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in August, 2020.  

Sometimes, it's difficult to convey distances in first person view (FPV) videos.  Not so in this excellent piece by AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot Luke Bredar.  The video opens with a shot of the "target" - a giant rock formation off in the distance, across a "Martian" looking landscape.  In a single, continuous shot, you'll ride along as the distance is closed with the aid of his long-range FPV setup.  This video was picked by the AirVuz editors for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in September, 2021. 

AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot SE_FPV brings us this fantastic long-range FPV piece from the Austrian Alps.  Shot in the heart of one of the world's most beautiful alpine regions, the video features some incredible mountain surfing shots as well as a number of epic dives down steep crevices.  It's testament to the power of today's long-range FPV setups, which allow pilots to go several km/mi from their home base.  For his efforts, this video made the FPV Pilots to Watch list in July of 2020.  

Take a cruise along the coast of Norway in this epic first person view (FPV) piece by AirVuz contributor fure_fpv.  Using a long-range setup, he takes an 8 km (roughly 5 mi.) flight on the coast of the island of Godøya.  Godøya is part of the municipality of Ålesund in Møre og Romsdal, one of the main counties of the official Western Norway region.  The video features some excellent footage skimming along the mountains which run parallel to the coastline.  This video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in January, 2021.  

In the early days of first person view (FPV) drones, flight footage was often difficult to watch - certainly, nobody would call it "relaxing".  Fast-forward a few years, and "relaxing" is an accurate description of the footage in this excellent piece by AirVuz contributor and pilot halitic.  Shot over the mountains of Austria, the footage from a long-range cruise over a ridge of the Alps is beautifully smooth and stabilized.  It was enough to earn our content creator a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in October, 2020.  

AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot Drone My Life shows off some excellent long-range flying skills in this amazing piece from Southern France.  The scene, with deep canyons, giant ridges, and fantastically-shaped rock formations, is made for exploration from afar; a perfect spot to push the limit on the range that today's long-range setups are capable of handling.  For his efforts, our talented content creator was awarded with a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in October, 2020.  

Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot Cst FPV gets WAY out there over the Alps Mountains with his long-range setup in this video.  Shot at golden hour, he used the ReelSteadyGO post-production stabilization package to make the footage incredibly smooth and cinematic.  He flies what appears to be several mi./km from home base over some extremely rugged alpine scenery, bringing the quad home safely.  This video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in late June of 2022.  

Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot ShaggyFPV earned himself another spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in January, 2021 with this fantastic long-range mountain surfing piece from the Austrian Alps.  The video was shot in the Dorfertal, a valley in the Hohe Tauern National Park.  The valley lies in the shadow of the Grossglockner (Großglockner), which is the highest mountain in Austria and has a summit elevation of 3.8k meters above sea level or a bit under 12.5k ft.  

Wingsuit flying is an extreme sport which is, for obvious reasons, extremely difficult to film.  It turns out that with a suitably capable pilot, FPV drones are perfect for keeping up with these brave souls as they jump off cliffs and fly down mountains.  Witness this incredible piece by top AirVuz contributor and FPV pilot halitic.  Using a 7 inch quad and a long-range FPV setup, he was able to capture some of the most epic winsuit footage we've ever seen, earning himself a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in June, 2021. 

Top AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) drone pilot nik.scherer used a long-ange setup to deliver this fantastic FPV drone video of a lake in the heart of Switzerland.  Oeschinen Lake is located in the Bernese Oberland, in the west-central part of the country.  Formed by one of the giant landslides that occasionally upends the Oeschinen Valley, the lake is only partly accessible due to landslide restrictions that make some of its shoreline off-limits.  This video made the FPV Pilots to Watch list in May, 2022.  

The coast of Australia is the idyllic setting for this highly cinematic first person view (FPV) drone video by top contributor and FPV pilot CLIFFORD FPV.  Super smooth, the video is an example of how FPV coastal cruising has evolved past the stage where pilots would be happy simply getting their quad back to safety.  Watch as he hugs tightly to the rocks along the coast as he heads into the brilliant sun ahead.  This video was picked as a Finalist for the AirVuz Drone Video of the Week contest in June of 2020.  

Using long-range setups, first person view (FPV) pilots are now able to venture several miles from their "home base" and to capture spectacular scenes of nature from an entirely new perspective.  Case in point is this piece from AirVuz contributor harleyhiles.  He used a GoPro Hero 10 camera mounted to an FR7 quad and flew out over Crown Point, a mountain in the Sierra Nevada chain of the western USA.  The mountain has a peak elevation of 11.35k ft. above sea level or 3.45k m.  This video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list.   

AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot docl8 put together this stunning long-range FPV mountain surfing video that will leave your head spinning.  As the name hints, the video was shot at the beginning and end of the day; impressively, only two Lipo batteries were used to create the piece.  Smoothly flying within a dozen inches of the mountain side, the video opens with sunrise shots along the rocky ledges and goes from there.  This was an easy selection for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in June of 2019.

Talented content creator and first person view (FPV) drone pilot ARIA_FPV earned himself a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in July, 2021 with this fantastic FPV mountain surfing piece from the Swiss Alps.  The video features an excellent "setup" shot chasing a motorcyle on a mountain road before heading into the heights of one of the world's most picturesque mountain ranges.  With a long-range setup, he's able to tackle some spectacular mountain ridge, far above his launching point.  

First person view (FPV) drones are increasingly being used to create footage for promotion of tourism.  This is particularly true with respect to FPV mountain surfing, where talented FPV pilots are able to fly their mini-drones over some of the world's most difficult (and beautiful) terrain.  AirVuz contributor mcflury_fpv brings us an excellent example of this emerging art form; the video was used to promote tourism in the Swiss Alps.  For his efforts, he was rewarded with a spot on the FPV Pilots to Watch list in January, 2021.  

AirVuz contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot AdventureGraph displays some very impressive flying skills in this long-range piece from the western Austrian state of Tyrol.  Highly cinematic, you'll cruise along some razor-sharp ridges and on some very daring dives.  The most impressive parts of the video are the shots flying through some very tight spaces that appear to be a long way from home range-wise.  This video was picked for the sought-after FPV Pilots to Watch list in May of 2021. 

Top contributor and first person view (FPV) pilot Cst FPV brings us another magnificent FPV mountain surfing piece from the mountains of northern Italy.   Opening with some nice shots of his quad before sending it into action, the video will take you out on a long-range journey over some of the most beautiful natural scenery in Europe.  The video was stabilized with ReelSteady, which imparts a smooth, cinematic feel to the footage.  This video was picked for the FPV Pilots to Watch list in early June, 2021.
