It's especially impressive given the weather: due to hazardous conditions created by hurricane Ophelia, there were times he couldn't even fly. In this Drone Video of the Week nominated video, top contributor Scientik takes us on a glorious aerial tour of Ireland's west coast, otherwise known as the Wild Atlantic Way.  Shot on a DJI Inspire 2 with the incredible X7 camera, this piece the country's rugged coast line, green fields, and miles of undeveloped land.  The other-worldly look of the coastline led to the Wild Atlantic Way being a primary filming location for the 2017 blockbuster Star Wars: The Last Jedi, the eighth in the series.  

AirVuz contributor and pilot Drone Photography Ireland brings us this fantastic drone video of some coastal spots in Ireland.  While the country covers a modest area of about 84k square km (a little under 33k square mi.), it has an enormously long coastline totaling 6.2k km (around 3.9k mi.), most of which is in the western part of the island with its series of peninsulas.  The video features footage from all around this enormous coast, including shots of Fanad Head Lighouse in County Donegal, Hook Lighthouse in County Wexford, and more.

The western (Atlantic Ocean) coast of Ireland is home to some of the most magnificent scenery in Western Europe.  In this outstanding drone video by top AirVuz contributor Silvadesignco, you'll get to explore this magic land from the air.  At the :15 mark, there's a nice shot of Doonagore Castle in County Clare.  At around the :54 mark, there's a great view of the Cliffs of Moher, followed (starting at :59) of the Kilmacduagh Monastery in County Galway.  Other highlights include Moher Tower at Hag's Head (1:10), and more.  

Ireland is home to a uniquely large concentration of old fortress ruins, which are spread throughout the country.  The most common are circular fortifications known as ring forts.  These were primarily constructed during the Bronze Age, which stretched from roughly 3300 to 1200 BC (ring forts can also be found in England, Wales, and parts of Scandinavia, but less frequently).  In this drone video by top contributor Drone photography ireland, you'll get an aerial tour of some Irish ring forts as well as forts from later periods.     

Ireland was fairly quick to take decisive action as the Covid-19 epidemic took hold in the winter of 2020: from its first confirmed case on February 29, it was less than two weeks before the Prime Minister ordered all of the country's schools closed.  On March 27, a much more restrictive order went into place which amounted to "shelter in place" for most of Ireland's population.  In this rather eerie drone video from muno.drone explore, you'll see the great capital city of Dublin on virtual lockdown.

The Rock of Cashel is one of the most recognized cultural sites in all of Ireland.  It is closely associated with what was perhaps the seminal event of Irish history: the conversion by St. Patrick of the King of Munster to Christianity in the 5th century AD.  The building ruins remaining on the ancient site include a tower, a chapel and a cathedral.  In this excellent aerial video, contributor and pilot Ashville Aerial gives us a drone tour of this Antiquity-age site in County Tipperary in southeast Ireland.

Ireland's Galtees Mountains lie in the southeastern part of the country, covering portions of Counties Limerick and Tipperary.  The highest mountain in this range is Mt. Galtymore, which reaches an altitude of approximately 900 meters (about 3k ft) above sea level.  In this video, contributor Ben Freely flies his DJI Mavic Pro drone over this highly distinctive looking mountain range, which runs for about 30 km (just under 20 mi.).  The bird's eye view of the green-yellow hills is amazing to behold! 

This drone video by content creator and pilot Shane McGrath Photography showcases some of the best aerial views we've seen of the magnificent western coastline of Ireland, otherwise known as the Wild Atlantic Way.  The crazily-jagged shape of the coastline led to the Way being a primary filming location for the 2017 installment of the Star Wars series, The Last Jedi. For example, the first shot in the video is of Loop Head Lighthouse in County Clare; the cliffs here appear in a scene in the movie.

In this video, top contributor Nathan Jermy treats us to an epic aerial tour of the mid-section of Ireland's western (Atlantic) coastline: north to south, Counties Mayo, Galway, and Clare.  This is the heart of the famed Wild Atlantic Way, a coastline which appears fantastically complex on a map and fantastically beautiful from the air.   The lush, rolling hills paired with the thrashing waves of the sea beating the rocks and the ancient ruins that are scattered between make for an idyllic location. 

Top AirVuz contributor Drone Photography Ireland was picked as a DVOW Finalist for this excellent video of Ireland's Achill Island.  Located off the Corraun Peninsula in County Mayo in the western part of the country, it's Ireland's largest "satellite" island.  Achill has been inhabited since the fourth or fifth millennium BC, possibly earlier.  Covering about 150 square km (a bit under 60 square mi.), the island has a permanent population of a bit under 3k.  Since the 1880s, the island is connected to the mainland via a bridge.    

Check out this drone video of one of the most well known mountains in Ireland, compliments of former DVOW Finalist Drone Photography Ireland.  Errigal Mountain is part of the Derryveagh Mountains (also known as the Seven Sisters) which cover much of Donegal, the northwesternmost county of the island.  With a peak elevation of about 750 meters above sea level (just over 2.4k ft.) above sea level, Errigal is known not so much for its height as its shape as well as its unique pinkish appearance in the right sunlight conditions.  

Ireland's County Donegal is one of the six counties of Ulster, which is the name for the historical region of northern Ireland.  It is perhaps the most distinctive of Ireland's counties, partly because its main borders are not with the Republic but rather with the counties of Northern Ireland, the portion of the island which has remained part of the UK.  Its seemingly endless coastline is a source of supreme natural beauty, as you'll see in this beautiful drone video by contributor Nathan Jermy.  

Here's an excellent aerial view of Waterford, Ireland during the quarantine days of the Covid-19 pandemic in the Spring of 2020, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot waterfordepiclocations.  Ireland's oldest city, Waterford is located in County Munster on the southeastern coast of the Emerald Isle.  Like the rest of the country, this harbor town was subject to social distancing measures imposed by the central government soon after the first confirmed novel coronavirus infection was announced on February 29th.

Multiple Drone Video of the Week Finalist Drone Photography Ireland brings us this fantastic drone video of Ireland's Fanad Head Lighthouse.  Built in 1886, it sits at the end of the Fanad Peninsula in the northern part of County Donegal, Ireland's northernmost county.   The lighthouse lies at the western entrance to Lough Swilly, the inlet which separates the Fanad and Inishowen Peninsulas and which represents a navigational challenge for ships in the area.  The current structure has a tower height of 22 meters (72 ft.).  

Here's a fantastic aerial view of Ireland's famous Trim Castle, compliments of AirVuz contributor and drone pilot Drone Photogaphy Ireland.  Dating to the 12th century, the castle is situated on the River Boyne in County Meath, about a 45 minute drive northwest of Dublin.   The structure was built on the orders of England's King Henry II as part of the consolidation of Norman control over the British Isles.  Famously, it "played the role" of a Scottish castle in the 1995 epic film (and blockbuster) Braveheart.  

Nitram Photography created this beautiful video record of a trip to Ireland.  The video features footage from both the "mild" east coast and the "wild" Atlantic way on the western coast.  Two of the highlights are the fantastic Cliffs of Moher which you'll see starting at about the :50 mark; located on the Wild Atlantic Way, the Cliffs are one of the island's most iconic sights.  Another is the great flat rock formation known as Benbulbin which you'll see starting around 2:55; it's located a bit north of the Cliffs in County Sligo.  

The Dingle is the northernmost and probably the best known of the four great peninsulas which form the coastline of southwestern Ireland in County Kerry.  In this drone video by new contributor Hudson's Photo, you'll get some great aerial views of two spots on the famous landform.  The first is Slea Head, a promontory near the western end of the peninsula.  The second featured spot is the Dingle Marina in the peninsula's namesake town, which lies in a small bay on the peninsula's southern side. 

Check out these stunning aerial views of Ireland's County Sligo, compliments of Drone Photogaphy Ireland. Sligo is located in the northwestern part of the island, with a coastline along the Wild Atlantic Way.  The video opens with an epic shot of Classiebawm Castle, a 19th century manor house on the Mullaghmore Peninsula.  Then it's on to the star of the show: the flat-topped Benbulbin rock formation.  Considered one of Ireland's great natural and cultural treasures, it featured prominently in the works of the great 19th century poet W.B. Yeats.

For a one minute aerial tour of some of the cultural highlights of Ireland, look no further than this epic drone video from mofromamreeka.  His 60 second video will take you over some of the castles, baronial estates, and quaint seaside villages for which the Emerald Isle is famous.  Much of the video is shot around the Charles Fortress.  This star-shaped fortification was built in the 17th century in County Cork to defend against possible amphibious invasions (which in fact never transpired).  

Papa.drone gives us a drone's eye view of the Star Wars Islands, two islands off the coast of southern Ireland.  Great Skellig (aka Skellig Michael) and Little Skellig are located southwest of the Iveragh Peninsula in County Kerry.  Once primarily known for Skellig Michael's 6th-century monastery, the islands burst into public consciousness in 2015 as the shooting location for Jedi Master Luke Skywalker's hideaway in Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015), appearing again in The Last Jedi (2017). 

The Cliffs of Moher are one of the great natural wonders of Ireland.  Seen in this excellent drone video by contributor Santiago, they are located one of the peninsulas of western Ireland on the Wild Atlantic Way, in County Claire.  The cliffs run for a stretch of about 8 mi. (around 13 km) and reach a height of over 700 ft. (about 215 m).  The cliffs have appeared as filming locations in numerous movies, probably most famously as the Cliffs of Insanity in the 1987 cult classic, Princess Bride. 

Content creator and pilot Mark's Mavic 2 brings us this DJI Mavic Pro 2 footage of Ireland's Lough Tay, otherwise known as Guinness Lake.  It's set in the Wicklow Mountains of Wicklow, the easternmost of Ireland's counties.  The Guinness Lake nickname comes from the fact that much of the property around the northern shore of the lake is owned by the famous beer brewing family.  The lake was referenced in Bertrand Russell's bestselling autobiography; he visited Wicklow twice and spent much time walking around the lake.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Drone Photogaphy Ireland brings us this fantastic drone video of Ireland's Croagh Patrick, an important pilgrimage site on the Emerald Isle.  It's located on the southern side of Clew Bay in County Mayo, on the western side of the island.  According to tradition, St. Patrick spent 40 days fasting and praying on the mountain's summit in 441 AD.  Accordingly, on the holiday known as Reek Sunday (the last Sunday in July) thousands of people climb the summit and attend mass in the small chapel there.  

Check out this fantastic drone video of the pre-historic Irish fortress known as Dún Aonghasa, compliments of contributor Peter and Loki.  It's located atop a cliff on Inishmore (Inis Mór), an island off of Ireland's western coast.  It's believed that parts of the fortress date to about 1100 BC, during the Bronze Age of Ireland, although portions of it may date to the somewhat later Iron Age.  The fortress structure consists of four concentric walls made of dry stone, the outermost of which covers an area of 14 acres (six hectares).  

Here's a drone video of a magnificent spot on the western coast of Ireland, compliments of contributor Drone Photography Ireland.  It's a 50 meter (about 165 ft.) tall sea stack called Dún Briste, and it's located just a few dozen meters/yards off of a small but prominent peninsula called Downpatrick Head.  It's located just to the northeast of the town of Ballycastle in County Mayo, on an east-west stretch of the coastline known as the Wild Atlantic Way which covers most of the island's west coast.

Check out this beautiful drone video of a historic fishing town in southern Ireland, compliments of contributor Mark's Mavic 2.  The town is called Kinsale, and it's in the southern part of the island in County Cork.  It's considered one of the prime destinations of the county, which covers southeastern Ireland.  The town was the site of an important battle in the Nine Years' War which took place around the turn of the 16th century, when leading Irish landlords attempted to eject England from the island.  

Contributor and pilot Mark's Mavic 2 used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 to create this stunning video of the lighthouse at the Old Head of Kinsale in County Cork, Ireland.  The spot is famous for being the nearest land point to the sinking of the RMS Lusitania by a German U-Boat during World War I. On May 7, 1915, the Cunard-operated ship was torpedoed about 19 km (11 mi.) from here, killing almost 1,200 people.  The ensuing worldwide outrage caused Germany to temporarily suspend unrestricted submarine warfare.  

Malin Head is a promontory at the tip of Ireland's Inishowen Peninsula.  Part of County Donegal in the Republic of Ireland, it represents the northernmost mainland point of the country as well as the island of Ireland (which is split between the Reublic of Ireland and the UK region of Northern Ireland).   It's a beautiful stretch of coastline, albeit one which has represented a grave danger to shipping over the ages.  In this drone video by AIrVuz contributor Mark's Mavic 2, you'll get an aerial view of the Malin Head area.  

Former DVOW Finalist Drone Photography Ireland created this stunning drone video of the ancient ruins of Loughcrew, Ireland.  Situated in County Meath in the eastern part of the island, the area is known for its hilltop tombs which sit atop a prominent hill.  It's what is known as a passage tomb, one of four such sites identified in Ireland.  The tombs date to the 4th millennium  BC - over 5,000 years ago.  The area including the tombs and the hill is known as Slieve na Calliagh, and it's a protected national site.

Dunguaire Castle is one of the more well-known historical and cultural sites on Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way, its long western (Atlantic Ocean) coastline.  Seen in this drone video by former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Drone Photography Ireland, it's located on near the town of Kinvara on the southerastern shore of Galway Bay in County Galway.  Built in the 16th century, the structure is distinguished by its 75 foot (23 m) tower.  The castle "played the role" of Boyne Castle in the 1969 Disney film Guns in the Heather.  

Contributor Mark's Mavic 2 used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 to create this beautiful aerial of a spot in the northeastern corner of the Republic of Ireland.  The town of Carringford derives its name from the Norse phrase for "Narrow Sea Inlet of the Hag".  It is situated in County Louth on Carlingford Lough, a fjord, north of which lies the UK's Northern Ireland region.  The video features footage of King John's Castle, a 12th century enclosure castle built in the town's harbor which is one of the top attractions here.  

Cork is the southernmost of the 26 counties of the Republic of Ireland.   The region of West Cork is not precisely defined, but it's generally thought to include the series of peninsulas which form the southern part of the Wild Atlantic Way.  In this drone video by AirVuz contributor and pilot HendrikW, you'll get to take in some aerial views of West Cork.  Shot with a Mavic Pro 2, the video features footage of the Baltimore Beacon (at the entrance to its namesake harbor), Inchydoney Beach, and Barleycove Beach.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, new contributor Al Droning brings us this fantastic drone video from Galway, the most important city in western Ireland.  The city lies at the mouth of the River Corrib on Galway Bay.  It's an important cultural center, well known for its annual arts events.  The video features footage of some of the most well-known spots in and around Galway, such as the Galway Cathedral; the village of Claddagh, just outside the city walls; Mutton Island; the village of Salthill, just southwest of the city; and more.

Multiple Drone Video of the Week Finalist Drone Photography Ireland brings us this fantastic drone video of Ireland's Burren National Park.  The centerpiece of the park is the Burren, a giant rock formation.  One of the natural wonders of the Emerald Isle, the Burren is what's known as a glaciokarst landscape, in which layers of soluble sedimentary rocks were acted upon by glaciers during the last Ice Age.  Depending on definition, the Burren covers between 100-200 square mi. (250-560 square km), primarily in County Clare.

In this drone video by Mark's Mavic 2, you'll get a nice bird's eye view of two well-known spots in Mayo, one of the counties on the island's western coast.  The first is the town of Westport, which lies at the head of Clew Bay in the middle of the county's coastline.  You'll get a nice view of the Westport House, the manor where the founder of the town lived in the 18th century.  The other spot you'll see is the Croagh Patrick Mountain; it's the third highest mountain in the county with an elevation of 764 meters or 2.5k ft. 

Here's a beautiful aerial view of a town and castle tower in County Mayo in western Ireland.  The town is Newport, and it's situated on a large inlet called Clew Bay.  It's a planned town which dates to the early 18th century. Rockfleet Castle is the most well-known attraction near the town.  Built in the 16th century, it was the home and likely the final resting place of Grace O'Malley (Gráinne Mhaol), an Irish clan leader known for standing up to Queen Elizabeth in a 1593 meeting with the monarch.  

AirVuz contributor and pilot Mark's Mavic 2 brings us this excellent drone video of Ireland's largest waterfall: Powerscourt Falls.  The horsetail-fan type waterfall is part of the large (and open-to-the-public) Powerscourt Estate in County Wicklow, south of Dublin.  Part of the River Dargle in the Glensoulan valley, Powerscourt has a total drop of 121 meters, or just under 400 ft..  The falls were used to film the History Channel TV show on the Vikings 2013 as well as the 1981 medieval fantasy film Excalibur.  

If you want to understand why Ireland is a perennial travel "bucket list" favorite, check out this beautiful drone compilation by contributor and pilot Kirb82.  Shot with a DJI Mavic Pro drone, most of the footage is from the Emerald Isle's famous Wild Atlantic Way, which is the name adopted for its spectacular western (Atlantic Ocean) coast.  You'll get some amazing glimpses of the Cliffs of Moher, one of the island's most famous sites.  The Cliffs are part of a UNESCO World Heritage Geopark in County Clare.  

As more effective artillery emerged in Early Modern Europe, the old tower-style fortresses became virtually obsolete.  Beginning in Italy in the 15th century, bastion-type fortresses began to emerge which were designed to be defendable against the ever-more-powerful cannon.  One of the best examples of a bastion-style fortification is the Charles Fortress, which you'll see in this excellent drone video by Mark's Mavic 2.  It was built in Kinsale Harbor in County Cork and completed in 1682.  

Bray, Ireland is the largest town in Wicklow, the first county south of Dublin.  It's named for a small nearby peninsula called Bray Head, which protrudes a bit into the Irish Sea.  In this drone video by HendrikW, you'll get some great aerial views of the walking route between Bray, to the north of Bray Head, and the town of Greystones to its south.   For reasons you'll understand when you see the video, this area has become a popular day-trip for visitors to Dublin, less than a half-hour's drive to the north.  

The opening shots of this drone video of Ireland are absolutely incredible. Starting off with a still shot of the bright orange sky contrasted against the darkness of the surrounding hills, the video by AirVuz contributor Drone Photography Ireland just keeps getting better. He’ll also take us through the traditional, historic medieval ruins and building as the fog rolls through. The video was filmed in County Westmeath; as suggested by its name, it's located near the middle of the island.  The county is part of the province of Leinster.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor Kevin McBride brings us this stunning drone video of an Irish village called Dunlewey or Dún Lúiche.  It's located on the shores of its namesake lake at the foot of Mt. Errigal in County Donegal, the northernmost county of the Republic of Ireland.  Part of a region known as Gweedore which is considered one of the cradles of Irish culture, Dunlewey's Gaelic name translates to "fort of Lugh", an ancient Irish god.  The video was filmed with a DJI Mavic Air 2 drone.  

Slane Castle is located in Ireland's County Meath, just south of Dublin.  Originally the seat of the Conyngham family, the castle was constructed in the late 18th century.  Overlooking the Boyne River, the castle is probably now best known as the site of the annual Slane Concert.  Held on the sloping castle grounds, the concert series began in 1981.   Some of the world's biggest musical acts have performed here, including the Rolling Stones, U2, Bob Dylan, and David Bowie, Queen, and Bruce Springsteen.  

Maynooth is considered one of the great university town of Ireland.  That's because it's home to two major universities - Maynooth University (part of the National University) and St. Patrick's College.  The town is located in the north of County Kildare, an inland county just to the west of Dublin.  Historically, the town occupied an important geographic position on the edge of the Pale, as the portion of Ireland which was ruled directly by England was known in the Middle Ages.  Check it out from above in this drone video by dellboi90.

Check out this drone video of one of the world's most storied golf courses, compliments of contributor martins_nc.  It's the Ballybunion Golf Club, which is located in the town of the same name in County Kerry.  Set in the heart of the famed Wild Atlantic Way (the name for Ireland's western coastline), the club was founded in 1893.  The course was extensively modified by Tom Watson, who was a regular visitor here.  In 2005, it was ranked by the influential Golf Digest as the seventh-best non-US golf course.  

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Drone Photography Ireland brings us this fantastic drone video from Ireland's Achill Island.  Lying off Ireland's western coast in County Mayo, Achill is the largest of the Emerald Isle's satellite islands.  The area filmed is the area around Achill Head on the western end of the island, which covers almost 60 square mi. (around 160 square km) and has a full-time population of around 2,600 residents.  Achill Island is connected to the Irish mainland via the Michael Davitt Bridge.  

AirVuz contributor HendrikW brings us these excellent aerial views of a trio of castles in Ireland.  The first, Birr Castle, is located in its namesake town in County Offaly, near the geographic center of the Irish Republic.  The current structure dates to the 17th century.  The second featured landmark is Nenagh Castle, which is located in County Tipperary, Offaly's southern neighbor.  Nengagh Castle dates to the 13th century.  The last stop is the Gothic-style Charleville Castle back in County Offaly; it dates to the early 19th century.

Merry Christmas from the Emerald Isle!  AirVuz contributor and pilot Drone Photography Ireland brings us this excellent Christmas morning drone video from Ireland's famous Loop Head Lighthouse.  The lighthouse is located on a promontory in County Clare on the island's southwestern coast.  Situated in the heart of the Wild Atlantic Way, Loop Head was named the Best Place to Holiday in Ireland by the Irish Times in 2013.  Loop Head was used as a filming location for the 2017 blockbuster Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi.  

Brand-new AirVuz contributor eireialcreations.ie brings us this stunning drone video from Ireland's County Donegal.  Donegal is the northernmost of the Irish counties and one of the three provinces of Ulster which are part of the Republic of Ireland (the other six being part of the United Kingdom).  The video opens with shots of Ballintra, a town near Donegal's southern boundary.  Then it's on the Barnesmore Gap in the Bluestack Mountains, the town of Ballyshannon (the oldest town in Ireland), Creevy Pier, and Glenade Lough.

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Drone Photography Ireland brings us this excellent drone video of a famous Irish monastery.  Fore Abbey is located in County Westmeath, one of the interior counties of the Emerald Isle.  The original order dates to the 7th century AD, and was subject to numerous attacks by mauraders (including the Vikings), a dozen of which saw it burned.  Most of the complex's buildings date to the13th century.  The abbey and its surroundings are sometimes called the Seven Wonders of Fore by the local population.

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist Drone Photography Ireland brings us this excellent drone video of St. Johns Point Lighthouse in the Republic of Ireland.  The lighthouse lies at the tip of a long, narrow peninsula which extends south into Donegal Bay off of a much larger peninsula in County Donegal, on Ireland's western coast.  Completed in 1831, the lighthouse was automated in 1932 and converted to electricity about three decades later.  The lighthouse is not to be confused with St. John's Lighthouse in Northern Ireland.  

AirVuz contributor and pilot ireland_from_air brings us this excellent drone video of a picturesque spot on the eastern coast of Ireland.  Clogherhead and Port Oriel are adjacent villages in County Louth, roughly halfway between Dublin and the Republic's northern border.  The scenic location has been used as a filming location for a number of movies.  Most notably, the Port Oriel harbor was used to shoot the opening scene of the Devil's Own, a 1997 action thriller starring Harrison Ford and Brad Pitt.  

AirVuz contributor HendrikW brings us this outstanding drone video from the Irish island of  Inisheer (Inis Oírr).  Located off Ireland's western coast, Inisheer is the smallest of the three Aran Islands at the southern entrance of Galway Bay, which separates County Galway (to the north) from County Clare (to the south).  Inisheer is famous in part for its glacio-karst landscapes, which are part of the system known as the Burren.  Settled since no later than 1500 BC, Inisheer currently has fewer than 300 permanent residents.   

The city of Wicklow, Ireland is what's known as a "county town", roughly the equivalent of the county seat in the USA - ie, it's the most important town in its county, which in this case is also its namesake.  Located a bit south of Dublin on the eastern (Irish Sea) side of the island, the area around the town was settled no later than the First Milennium BC.  The town itself dates to the 9th century AD as a Viking base and harbor.    Check out this beautiful drone footage of the idyllic town by Drone and Photo Services.  

Beale Strand is a roughly 3 km (around 2 mi.) stretch of beach in Ireland's County Kerry, on the western side of the Emerald Isle.  It sits on the estuary of the Shannon River, downstream (west) of the river's mouth at Limerick.  Just a short distance northeast of the famous Ballybunion Golf Course, it's one of the more well-known beaches along Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way, as the country's western (Atlantic) coast is known.  Check out these beautiful aerial sunrise views of the beach, compliments of Hartwell Photography.  

New contributor UmairK.Official brings us this excellent video from the historic town of Kilkenny, Ireland.  Created with aerial footage from a DJI Mini 2 drone and supplemented with ground camera footage, the video will take you over this important town of about 25k inhabitants in the south-central part of the country.  The piece features some excellent shots of Kilkenny Castle, which originally dates to the 13th century.  The castle was the site of a seige in 1650 by the forces of Oliver Cromwell.  

Check out this excellent drone video of the town of Bray, Ireland, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot ireland_from_air.  Bray is situated in County Wicklow, a few mi/km south of the southern end of Dublin Bay.  First connected to Dublin by rail in the 1850's, Bray became a Dublin getaway and later in effect a southern suburb of the Irish capital city.  The video features excellent footage of the town's waterfront and promenade, the Bray Head promontory just south of the town, and the Wicklow Mountains just inland.  

Ireland's Doolough Valley is centered on Doo Lough (lake) in County Mayo, in the western part of the country.  Seen here in this drone video by AirVuz contributor shaskeen, the valley was the scene of a well-known tragedy during the Great Irish Famine of 1845-9 in which up to a quarter of the Irish population perished from Hunger.  The Doolough Tragedy occurred in March, 1849, when relief officials forced hundreds of starving to walk 19 km (12 mi.) in poor weather for an inspection, in the course of which many perished.  

AirVuz contributor and pilot Mark's Mavic 2 brings us this excellent drone video from a pilgrimage site in Ireland.  St Patrick's Purgatory is located on Station Island in Lough Derg in County Donegal.  Mentioned as early as the 12th century, it's not clear if the original site was on Station Island or on the shoreline of the lake.  The modern form of the pilgrimage involves a two-night stay - the first in the basilica and then sleep in the dormitory; on the third day they are ferried back to the mainland. 

Check out these beautiful drone videos of four iconic sights in northeastern Ireland, compliments of AirVuz contributor Drone Photography Ireland.  The first stop is the ruins atop the Hill of Slane in County Meath, Ireland's northeasternmost county, including the remains of an early Gothic style tower.  Then it's on to three spots in County Louth to the south: (1) Melifont Abbey, the first Cistercian abbey in the country; Moneyveg Tower, a 19th century folly; and the ruins of an old monastery in Monasterboice ruins, near Drogheda.  

Check out this epic dronie from a famous Irish mountain range, compliments of AirVuz contributor Drone Photography Ireland.  It was filmed at Comeragh Mountains on the border between Counties Waterford and Tipperary, in the southeastern part of the country.  The range consists of a dozen mountains, the highest of which (Fauscoum) has a peak elevation of about 800 meters above sea level (around 2.6k ft.).  Offering extensive trails and climbing routes, the Cameragh's are a popular destination for hikers and other outdoor enthusiasts.  

New contributor ian1990holmes brings us this excellent drone video from Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way.  The video was filmed over a spot called Flaggy Shore in County Clare, one of the counties which line the island's western (Atlantic) shore.  It's on the south side of Galway Bay, on one of the numerous peninulas which comprise the western coast.  By its most extensive definition, the Wild Atlantic Way consists of 1.5k miles of shoreline (about 2.5k km), covering nine counties extending from Ireland's northern tip to Kinsale in the south.

Check out these drone views of a well-known spot on Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot shaskeen28.  The video was shot over the cliffs near Portacloy in County Mayo.  The video captures the insignia "EIRE", which was etched into the cliff during World War II to warn German bombers that they were over the sovereign territory of (neutral) Ireland as opposed to that of (Allied) United Kingdom.  The signs also (somewhat unintentionally) aided Allied airmen in their navigation over the British Isles.  

AirVuz contributor UmairK.Official used a DJI Mini 3 Pro drone to create this excellent aerial view of the Connemara region of Ireland.  Connemara is part of County Galway, one of the main counties of western Ireland.  It's essentially a wide but shallow peninsula which forms the northern part of Galway Bay.  At the :45 mark (and again at around 1:33), the video features some great shots of the 19th century Kylemore Castle and the adjacent Kylemore Abbey, which continues to operate as a Benedictine Monastery.  

AirVuz contributor ireland_from_air brings us this excellent drone video of a medieval ruins site in southern Ireland.  The focus of the video is the Kilcrea Friary, which is located near the town of Ovens in County Cork.  The monastery was built by local Franciscans in the 15th century.  It sustained attacks by the English army in the 16th century, which nearly ruined the structure.  It was partially restored in the early 17th century.  The video also includes footage of the nearby Kilcrea Castle, which was built around the same time.  

Ride along with AirVuz contributor twentyonebyninefilms in this aerial video record of a road trip through Ireland.  Filmed with a DJI Mavic 3 Cine drone, the video covers a trip from Dublin (in the northeastern part of the country) to the Dingle Peninsula near the southwestern corner of the island.  Part of County Limerick, the Dingle is the northernmost of a series of "fingers" below the Shannon River which extend into the North Atlantic Ocean, all of which are part of the Wild Atlantic Way.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, brand-new contributor UmairK.Official brings us this outstanding drone video of Drogheda, Ireland.  The port town is located about 35 mi. (around 55 km) north of Dublin at the mouth of the River Boyne on the Irish Sea.  The Seige of Drogheda by the English forces of Oliver Cromwell and the bloody massacre which followed were seminal events in Irish history.  The video features footage of the Boyne Viaduct (at the :30 mark), St. Mary's Church (:49), Mellifont Abbey (1:08), Millmount Fort (1:23), and more. 

AirVuz contributor ireland_from_air brings us this excellent drone video of Ireland's Roche Castle.  It's located in County Louth, the northeasternmost county of the Irish Republic.  Perched atop an outcrop, the castle dates to the 13th century.  It was built by the de Verdons, a Norman family which came to Ireland following the 11th century Norman conquest of England.  The seat of the family for centuries, the castle was laid to ruin during Cromwell's conquest of Ireland during the mid-17th century.  

New contributor The Irish Bong brings us this excellent drone video from Ireland's County Kilkenny, an inland county in the historic Ancient East of the Republic.  The first stop is the village of Bennettsbridge, which is located on the River Noire a few mi./km southeast of the town of Kilkenny.  Then it's on to Kells Priory, a 12th century Augustine Monastery located a bit to the southwest of Bennettsbridge.  Then it's on to the town of Kilkenny itself, for views of St. Canice's Cathedral, Kilkenny Castle, and more.   

Friary Ross is one of the best-preserved medieval monasteries in Western Europe.  It is located in County Galway on the west coast of Ireland.  Sometimes referred to as "Ross Abbey", it is considered a cultural treasure of Ireland is protected under national conservation statutes.  Contributor and pilot Ashville Aerial used a DJI Mavic Pro drone to create a remarkable aerial tour of this centuries-old site.  Although the monastery has fallen into disuse, it continues to be used as a burial grounds.

Contributor Marks's Mavic 2 brings us this excellent aerial tour of Ireland's County Donegal, the northernmost county of the Emerald Isle.  The video opens with a shot of Mt. Errigal, the highest peak of the Derryveagh Mountains, followed by a shot of Dunlewey Church at the foot of the mountain.  Then it's on to Doe Castle, which sits on a small peninsula of Sheephaven Bay.   From there, you'll head to Glenveagh Castle, a 19th century mansion on the shores of Lough Beagh which is the centerpiece of Ireland's second-largest national park.  

Check out this drone video of one of the world's oldest lighthouses, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot Peter and Loki.  Hook Lighthouse is located at the southern tip of Ireland's Hook Peninsula, on the boundary between Counties Waterford and Wexford in the southeastern part of the country.  Marking the eastern entrance to Waterford Harbor, the tower dates to the 12th century.  It's believed to be the second-oldest operational lighthouse in the world, after Spain's Tower of Hercules.  

Former DVOW Winner Drone Photography Ireland brings us this magnificent wintertime drone video of Ireland's famous Mt. Errigal.  Errigal Mountain is part of the Derryveagh Mountains (also known as the Seven Sisters) which cover much of Donegal, the northwesternmost county of the island.  The mountain has a peak elevation of about 750 meters above sea level (just over 2.4k ft.) above sea level.  Considered one of Ireland's more iconic sites, Errigal has been used as a filming location for numerous feature movies and music videos.
