Get a comprehensive aerial tour of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in this fantastic drone video by top AirVuz contributor el gringo rojo.  This DVOW winning video was shot over the course of a five-week stay in Brazil's second-largest city and cultural capital.  The video features footage from hikes to the Christ the Redeemer (Cristo Redentor) statue, Pedra Bonita, and Dois Irmoas.  You'll also be treated to footage of the aqueducts in Lapa, the Museum of Tomorrow, Parque Lage, and Sugarloaf Mountain (Pao De Azucar), as well as some of Rio's famous beaches. 

BashirAbuShakra is one of the top content creators in the AirVuz community, with multiple Drone Video of the Week/Month wins to his name.  In this outstanding piece, you'll explore two relatively unknown areas of Brazil.  The first is the Lençóis Maranhenses National Park in the northeastern state of Maranhão.  The park covers a massive 600 square mi. (around 1.6k square km) and is famous for its sand dunes.  The rest of the footage was from the Amazon Rainforest in the state of Amazonas, where he unfortunately lost his drone.  

The Amazon Rainforest is an immense area, covering 5.5 million square km (2.1 million square mi) of territory in South America.  Roughly 60% of the rainforest is situated in Brazil, with the balance spread around eight other countries.  In this stunning drone video, contributor Cristian Dimitrius give us an aerial tour of portions of this irreplaceable natural resource in Brazil and French Guyana.  The Amazon River is the world's largest source of freshwater apart from the Arctic icecaps.  

AirVuz contributor Bahia Drones is one of the top drone piloting companies in Brazil. Operating out of Bahia (Brazil's fourth largest state by population), their work spans the width of Brazil.  This is their 2017 highlight reel, which gives an idea of the scope of their commercial drone work.  Created using several drone models, the video includes beaches, cities, people - all the sights and sounds of Brazil, particularly in the state of Bahia, the largest state in the country's Northeast region.  

The state of Rio de Janeiro in southeastern Brazil has the most international visitors of any state in the country.  In part this is because of the great city (and provincial capital) of the same name, but it goes well beyond that.  Drone pilot Theirry Paris channeled his love for his home state in this Drone Video of the Week nominee, which showcases his impressive flying, superb editing, and discriminating eye for the best sights of this magnificent state, which is part of the official Southeast region of Brazil.  

Contributor Luis Jr created this phenomenal drone tour of Ceará, one of the most important states of Northeastern Brazil.  With its capital city Fortaleza (Brazil's fifth largest city), it's the eighth most populous of the country's 27 states (incuding the Brasilia Federal Territory) despite being one of the smallest in terms of land area.  With its beautiful beaches along a relatively long coastline, it's the most popular tourist destination amongst the nine states that comprise the country's official Northeast Region.  

Iguazu Falls is the largest waterfall system in the world.  It is situated on the Iguazu River in South America, on the border between Brazil and Argentina.   It's not a single falls but rather a complex cataract system comprising 275 drops, with a total height of 82 meters (269 ft.).  In this video by JustinPoore, you will be treated to an aerial tour of this magnificent waterfall system, which is a UNESCO World Heritage site, compliments of AirVuz contributor Justin Poore and his DJI Mavic Pro drone.  

In this drone video compilation piece by contributor and pilot Let's Fly Productions, you'll be treated to aerial views of some of the most famous beach spots in Brazil.  First you'll see the beaches of Florianopolis, the second largest city in the state of Santa Catarina and considered the best beach destination in Southern Brazil.  Then you'll head north to the island of Ilha Grande in the state of Rio de Janeiro, finishing up at the legendary Copacabana Beach in the great city of Rio de Janeiro itself.  

Checkout this stunning dronelapse of the great Brazilian city of Salvador, compliments of contributor Peu Ribeiro.  Salvador is the capital of the state of Bahia and is the largest city in the Northeast region.  The video features footage from across the city, which is Brazil's fourth-largest and was the original capital of Brazil when it was the jewel of the great Portuguese Empire.  Watch it for some amazing bird's eye views of Salvador's legendary beaches, historic churches, and even the  Itaipava Arena Fonte Nova stadium.   

How does this sound for fun - driving supercars through hairpin turns through the mountains of southern Brazil(!)  In this remarkable drone video, contributor and drone pilot Wind View Drone was able to aerially film a supercar drive through the extremely windy roads of Serra do Rio.  Brazil's largest mountain range, the Serra do Rio is situated in the state of Santa Catarina.  Santa Catarina is the next-to-southernmost of the country's 26 states; the only state to its south is Rio Grande do Sul.

Southeastern Brazil is home to the country's two primary urban centers: Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.  Each is capital of a state with the same name, and the cities are "only" about 435 km (around 250 mi) apart - practically neighbors by the enormous scale of Brazil.  The two cities are a study in contrasts - Rio being the cultural capital of Brazil (as well as its capital city until 1960), Sao Paulo the business capital.  In this video, Mr. B gives us an aerial view of both of these great cities - from the perspective of a drone.  

Contributor and pilot Willian used a DJI Phantom 4 drone to create this beautiful aerial tour of the area around Florianópolis, which occupies much of the island of Santa Catarina in Southern Brazil.  Most of the video is shot in the less densely populated parts of the island, such as Ilha Campeche, Praia Matadeiro, Armação, and Lagoinha do Leste.  The island of Santa Catarina, part of the state of the same name (one of the three which make up the Southern Brazil region), now connects to the mainland via two bridges.  

Contributor and pilot Luiz Jr created this aerial video of his hometown of Fortaleza, Brazil.  Fortaleza is the capital of the state of Ceará in the northeastern region.  Fortaleza is one of the wealthiest cities in northeastern Brazil, and its port one of the busiest in the country.  It's one of the oldest European settlements anywhere in the western Hemisphere, even though it wasn't colonized in earnest by the Portuguese for some time after it was "discovered" initially by the Spanish.

The mighty Amazon River is the king of rivers.  At 6.4k km (4k mi.) in length, it's either #1 or #2 in length depending on definition.  Measured by discharge, it's not even close: the Amazon pumps an average of over 200k cubic meters (over 7 million cubic feet) of water into the Atlantic Ocean every second, roughly 5x its closest competitor.  Award-winning contributor and drone pilot Fabio Knoll is a native of Brazil; his aerial video showcasing this spectacular natural resource is magnificent.

Check out this beautiful drone video of an important city in Southern Brazil, compliments of contributor BielPilot.  Curitiba is the capital and largest city of the state of Paraná, one of the three states which makes up the Southern Region of Brazil.  It's the center of a metropolitan area of about 3.5 million people, the seventh largest in the country as of 2018.  The city sits on a plateau well away from the state's Atlantic coastline. The largest city in Southern Brazil, it's also one of the most developed in the country.   

Top content creator and pilot Drone Da Montanha created this beautiful captioned drone video compilation of the most beautiful mountains in Brazil. The mountains featured include some of the largest and most known in this South American country, such as Pico Parana, Pico do Cristal, Pico Bandeira, and others.  At about the 1:00 mark, you'll get a look at Pico da Neblina, near the border with Venezuela. With a maximum elevation of just under 3k meters above sea level (around 9.8k ft.) it's the tallest peak in Brazil.  

Contributor and drone pilot Daniel Molina took this beautiful drone video of some islands off the coast of southeastern Brazil in the state of Rio de Janeiro.   Despite its long Atlantic coastline, Brazil has comparatively few islands - far fewer than Venezuela, for example.  In this video, you'll see one of the main concentrations of islands, around Cabo Frio.  Cabo Frio is a medium-sized city located on a cape (peninsula) of the same name, a bit to the east of the state's capital (and by far largest city) Rio de Janeiro.  

The state of Espírito Santo is by far the smallest of the four states that make up the Southeastern Region of Brazil.  Of the roughly 4 million people who live here, about half live in the Greater Vitória area.  This metropolitan area includes the cities of Cariacica, Fundão, Guarapari, Serra, Vitória, Vila Velha, and Viana, all of which sit on the estuary of the Santa Maria da Vitória River.  In this drone video by ARdrone, you'll get a bird's eye view of Vila Velha as well as the larger urban area of which it is part. 

Brazil's Praia do Forte is one of the most popular beach areas in the state of Bahia, one of the states in Brazil's Northeast Region  This beach, located a bit north of the state capital Salvador, has everything for a beach destination: from epic waves for surfing, to whale watching, to snorkeling and beach town exploring. Contributor imoveisbrasilbahia created this beautiful drone video of Praia do Forte, recently named as one of the top beaches in South America in a survey by the Travel Channel.  

Check out this fantastic drone video of the Jalapão region of interior Brazil, compliments of AirVuz contributor nexinxavier.  Jalapão is a highly distinctive "microregion" within Tocantins, a giant state that's part of Brazil's official Western Region.  With its semi-arid climate and highly distinctive rock formations, the region covers about 34k square km (around 13k square mi.).  It's an inreasingly popular eco-tourist destination, in part due to its appearance as a filming location for the 18th season of the Survivor TV series.

Peu Ribeiro used a DJI Inspire 2 drone to create this stunning video of the Old Town of Salvador, Brazil.  Salvador is the largest city in the state of Bahia and it's the fourth largest city in the country (after Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Brasilia) as well as the largest in the officially recognized Northeast Region.  The historic city was "discovered" by the Spaniards in 1500 but settled by the Portuguese beginning in the mid-16th century.  It is one of the oldest European settlements in the Western Hemisphere.  

RG CAM created this spectacular aerial view of the 120th anniversary of one of the youngest cities in Brazil.  Belo Horizonte is the capital of the state of Minas Gerais in southeastern Brazil, the second largest state in the country.  Belo Horizonte is the sixth largest city in Brazil, and its metropolitan area is the third largest after Rio and Sao Paulo.  The city as it exists today was built as part of a plan for a new state capital to replace the gold mining town Ouro Preto, which lies to its southeast.  

Top contributor RG Cam brings us this fantastic drone video of the historic city of Ouro Preto, Brazil.  Situated in the interior state of Minas Gerais, Ouro Preto was the center of the Brazilian Gold Rush which began in the late 17th century and resulted in nearly 30 million ounces of the yellow metal being extracted.  Situated in the Serra do Espinhaço mountains, Ouro Preto was the state capital until the founding of the city of Belo Horizonte in the late 19th century.  Ouro Preto has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, new contributor acaetano brings us this beautiful drone video of the Brazlian port city of Recife.  The state capiral of Pernambuco, Recife is the center of the country's fourth-largest metropolitan area after Sao Paulo, Rio, and Brasilia.  One of the oldest cities in Brazil, it was founded by the Portuguese in the 1530's.  The video includes footage of some of the city's most well-known spots, including its Crystal Tower statue, the Capibaribe River, Porto Digital, and the Twin Towers near Pina Beach.

Contributor and pilot AirVuzWeldas used a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone to create this amazing aerial video of Brazil's Federal District. The Federal District is a quasi-state, similar to the status of the USA's District of Columbia.  It's located well in the interior of this immense country, completely surrounded by the states of Goias (from whose territory it was created) and Minas Gerais.  The District was created to be the home of Brasilia, which was chosen as the new capital city of the country in 1960, taking over that role from Rio de Janeiro.   

Take in these stunning drone views of Brazil's Ihla Grande island, compliments of AirVuz contributor Aerial Perspective.  Ilha Grande is located in the state of Rio de Janeiro, roughly halfway between the state's (namesake) capital city and São Paulo.  One of Brazil's largest islands, Ilha Grande covers a bit under 200 square km or around 75 square mi. For much of its history, the island was off-limits to tourism: it was a leper colony and then a top-security prison.  Since the latter closed in 1994, it's become a populist tourist spot.  

Brazil's Chapada dos Veadeiros National Park is one of the natural treasures of this giant South American country.  Created in 1961, its situated in Goiás, one of the country's main interior states.  Located about a three hour drive north of Brasilia, the park sits atop a plateau believed to be nearly 2 billion years old.  Known for its waterfalls and some of the earth's oldest rock formations, the park is a UNESCO World Heritage site.  You can see the stunning park from above in this excellent drone video from bugDreamer.com.

Natal is one of the oldest and most important cities in Northeastern Brazil.  Capital of the state of Rio Grande del Norte, it's also the easternmost of any major city in the Western Hemisphere.  In this excellent piece by AirVuz contributor and pilot RG CAM, you'll get an aerial tour of the city, including the Newton Navarro Bridge at the mouth of the Potenji River; Pipa Beach, about an hour's drive south of the city center; Praia de Ponta Negra, the city's main beach district; and the nearby Morro do Careca sand dune.  

Check out this fantastic drone video from the coastline of Northeastern Brazil, compliments of top AirVuz contributor and pilot RG CAM.  The video was shot around the Trancoso district in the municipality of Puerto Seguro in the state of Bahia.  Once a small fishing village, like other spots on the Bahia coast this area has seen an influx of tourist traffic and resort/hotel construction in recent years.  This video was tapped as a Drone Video of the Week Finalist in June of 2020.

Here's a beautiful drone video of an island off the coast of Brazil, compliments of AirVuz contributor and pilot godronnerecife.  The Fernando de Noronha is located about 220 mi. (around 350 km) off the mainland coast of the northeastern state of Pernambuco.  The island is the largest of its namesake archipelago and the only one of the 21 which is inhabited.  Due to its importance as a feeding ground for sharks, tuna, marine mammals, and other species, it's designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site.  

AirVuz contributor franciscosantos12@hotmail.com brings us these excellent drone views of Manaus, Brazil, the principal city in the country's vast Amazon region.  Manaus is the capital city of Amazonas, the giant state which includes most of Brazil's Amazon Basin territory.  Manaus is the center of a metropolitan area of about 2.7 million, representing about 60% of the population of this vast but thinly populated state.  The city is located just east of the confluence of the Solimões and Negro Rivers to form the Amazon.  

Using a DJI Phantom 4 drone, pilot Daniel Molina captured stunning footage of Brazil’s Ilha Grande, a beautiful island off the coast of Brazil.  It's situated in the state of Rio Grande, a bit to the west of the capital city Rio de Janeiro.  For many years, the island was used as a leper colony, and was off-limits for development.  More recently, it's developed a significant amount of tourist traffic.   As you'll see in the video, this island offers the chance to swim in crystal-blue waters on white sand beaches.

Get a drone's eye view of the heart of the Amazon rainforest in this fantastic video by franciscosantos122hotmail.com.  The video was filmed on the Rio Negro River near the town of Novo Airão, in the gigantic northwestern state of Amazonas.  The Rio Negro is the largest left tributary of the mighty Amazon River.  With a source in Colombia, the Rio Negro is one of the ten largest rivers in the world by discharge volume.  It converges with the Amazon at the city of Manaus, the state capital and largest city.  

Top AirVuz contributor and pilot Laurent Paris brings us this fantastic drone video from the beaches of Natal, Brazil.  One of Brazil's 20 largest cities, Natal is the capital of the state of Rio Grande do Norte in Brazil's Northeastern region.  The city's beaches, which lie in several districts extending many km/mi to the south of the city, are some of the most well-known in Brazil.  The video features footage of the Natal beach zones as well as the sand dunes which lie along portions of the coastline.  

For a first upload to AirVuz, new contributor and drone pilot gustavoobarbosa brings us this beautiful aerial video from a beach on the coast of northern Brazil.  The area filmed is around the city of Maceió in Alagoas, one of the nine states in the country's official Northeast region.  One of Brazil's smallest states, Alagoas is sometimes called the Rhode Island of Brazil.  The video was shot with a DJI Mavic Pro 2 drone, bringing this stunning bit of coast to life in brilliant 4k.  

Like many great aerial cinematographers Fabio Knoll first started flying drones when he was hired to work on a popular TV show in his home country, Brazil. He says he likes using drone shots as establishing shots and that he loves using his UAV to capture the experience of a location.
