Uros Floating Islands

AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :

Top contributor Enrico Pescantini put together this short but amazing drone video from one of the most fascinating sites in South America: the man-made Uros Islands in Lake Titicaca.  Built by the native Uros people, these floating islands are made from totora, a reed which grows in abundance around the shallow parts of Titicaca.  Roughly 60 in number, the islands are clustered near the Peruvian town of Puno.  With a base elevation of 3.8k meters (around 12.5k ft.), the Andean lake is one of the largest freshwater bodies in South America.
