AUGUSTUSBURG CASTLE - SAXONY ✵ [4K]

Former Drone Video of the Week Finalist michael haubold brings us this fantastic drone video of well-known castle in Northern Germany.  It's called the Augustusburg, and it's located atop a hill in the Ore Mountains near the town of Chemnitz in the state of Saxony.  This landmark was built on the site of an older structure as a hunting lodge and residence on the orders of the Elector of Saxony in the last third of the 16th century.  Open to the public, the castle also houses a motorcycle museum.

The Augustusburg hunting lodge was built between 1568 and 1572 above the town of the same name on the Schellenberg 516 m above sea level. Built in the Renaissance style on the northern edge of the Ore Mountains.The landmark, visible from afar, is also known as the "Crown of the Ore Mountains". It is 12 km east of Chemnitz and 21 km south-west of Freiberg in the Free State of Saxony.
