Aerial View of Rijeka - Croatian Mediterranean City
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
AirVuz contributor RIK Fotos brings us this excellent drone video of the third-largest city in Croatia: Rijeka. Rijeka is located on Kvarner Bay, an inlet of the Adriatic Sea bounded by the Istrian Peninsula to the west. With a population of a bit over 100k, only Zagreb and Split are larger. Due to its strategic location and deepwater port, Rijeka was heavily fought-over throughout the Middle Ages. Prior to World War I, it was one of the two main ports of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, alongside Treiste.

Rijeka is a Croatian port city on Kvarner Bay in the northern Adriatic Sea. It’s known as a gateway to Croatia’s islands. Korzo, the main promenade, is lined with Habsburg-era buildings. Nearby, the 19th-century Ivan pl. Zajc Croatian National Theatre has ceiling paintings by Gustav Klimt. The hilltop Trsat Castle complex, which includes a religious shrine, has sweeping views of the islands of Kvarner Bay. Music: mixkit.co
