Burghausen Bavaria Germany The world`longest castle 1051m
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
Germany's Burghausen Castle has the distinction of being the world's longest castle. Located in its namesake town in Upper Bavaria, the structure has a total length of 1.05k meters or around 3.4k ft. Seen here in this drone video by Droneuwe, the landmark originally dates to the 10th century AD (possibly earlier), and it was subsequently extended over the course of several centuries. Its location made it an important position in the struggles against the Ottoman Empire, and it later played an important role in the Thirty Years' War.

The old ducal city of Burghausen is the most populous city in the Upper Bavarian district of Altötting. The efficient municipality belonging to the district lies on the Salzach, which forms the border with Austria. On a ridge above the old town, Burghausen Castle stretches, which at 1051 meters is the longest castle complex in the world. [3] In the late Middle Ages, Burghausen was an important secondary residence of the Bavarian rulers, which also manifested itself in the fact that, after the reunification of the partial duchies, the city was for centuries the seat of one of Bavaria's four (later five) rent offices and thus an administrative center. This is also reflected in the architecture of the city. Burghausen is now part of the Inn-Salzach tourist region.
