Cape Portland Wind Farm Tasmania.
AIRVŪZ STAFF NOTE :
The Australian island state of Tasmania lies within the band of latitude known as the Roaring Forties, where a set of unusual atmospheric and geographical factors conspire to produce some of the world's steadiest air currents. The resulting wind patterns helped propel sailing ships to and from Australia, and more recently have been harnessed to provide windpower. In this video, contributor FergTas gives us a drone's eye view of the Musselroe Wind Farm in Cape Portland in northeast Tasmania.

Musselroe is situated in the north east corner of Tasmania, surrounded on two sides by some of the most picturesque beaches in Tasmania. The wind farm was constructed and commissioned in 2013 and it is by far the largest of the three Woolnorth Wind Farms. There are 56 Vestas V90 wind turbines at the site giving a total installed capacity of 168 MW. The turbines are mounted on top of towers that are 80m high with blades that are 44m long. Over a 12 month period Musselroe produces approximately 5 percent of Tasmania’s electrical energy needs.
