The town of Český Krumlov is considered one of the great cultural treasures of the Czech Republic, second only to Prague. Located on a bend of the Vltava River in South Bohemia, the town is built around its namesake 13th century castle which sits above it. Its town center has been designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, one of the first in the country to be so named.
