Clarens Drive is one of the most famous stretches of road in South Africa. Otherwise known as route R44, the 21 km (about 13 mi.) road runs down the eastern side of False Bay (southeast of Cape Town), winding into the Hottentots-Holland Mountain range which rises up to the east of the bay. With over 75 curves (including a 150 degree turn), it offers a thrilling ride for road enthusiasts. This coastal road is very popular with the bikers on a Siunday. It offers fantastic views and during season, plenty of opportunities to sight whales. The road is 23km long for the coastal section which features campsites and great surfing spots.
