Drone Captures Run for Hong Kong

On the evening of November 1, 2019 hundreds of people gathered in Hong Kong to run. This is one of the many ongoing series of demonstrations known as the 2019 Hong Kong protests. Beginning in March of this year, the Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill kicked off the, "worst crisis in Hong Kong" in almost 3 decades. And the first weekend in November was the most violent week yet with 325 arrests according to the police.

Aerial cinematographer Edinz flew a drone to capture one of the more peaceful demonstrations. There had been increasing demand from police that running events needed to get their approval or they could be considered an illegal assembly. So passionate runners got together to show they should have the freedom to run. The drone followed the runners as they passed by many significant landmarks in Hong Kong. Lighting the night with headlamps and their cellphone lights, the runners started at Sun Yat Sen Memorial Park. The run continued along the coast, passing central pier and eventually going in front of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. While the running demonstration remained peaceful and upbeat, violent protests still continue in Hong Kong.
